Telecasting of the final episode of an Iranian television series depicting the life of Jesus Christ from an Islamic perspective was banned in Lebanon to “avoid any negative sentiments in the country,” local media reports said. Two television channels loyal to the Lebanese Shia movement Hezbollah have been airing the series titled ‘The Messiah’ since Tuesday on the occasion of the onset of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. It attracted protests from the country’s Catholic clergy which said it hurt the community’s religious sentiments.
