Scientist says Hawking is wrong

There's no denying that Stephen Hawking is intellectually bold as well as physically heroic. And in his latest book, the renowned physicist mounts an audacious challenge to the traditional religious belief in the divine creation of the universe. According to Hawking, the laws of physics, not the will of God, provide the real explanation as to how life on Earth came into being. The Big Bang, he argues, was the inevitable consequence of these laws 'because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.' Unfortunately, while Hawking's argument is being hailed as controversial and ground-breaking, it is hardly new.

I have enormous respect for Stephen Hawking. I have been reading his works since the 80s. However, I beg to differ with him on this issue. I am not a scientist but I have taught science. The Laws of Physics do not pre-date God. Nothing pre-dates God. God is the source of Nature and all the laws therein. It doesn't matter what his imagination tells him nor what theoretical mathematics tells him. Theory is theory and God is God. It's not that the twain shall never meet. It's that the brain of Man is inadequate, regardless of how brainy an individual is, to encompass the Universe on a level with God. Even Einstein didn't get his Theory of Relativity straight the first time. Even when he was working on the Special Theory of Relativity he had to design his "fudge"factor, the Indifference sub-theory, to wrap up all the variables he could not work into his two major theories. He died, like Darwin, unhappy, that his theories did not explain everything. Hawking will too. In a discussion on Quantum Mechanics in the 80s, Hawking, who has been pursuing the Theory of Everything all his life, stated that, when discovered, the Theory would reveal the Face of God. Not so. God has never revealed his face to any living man. That is for Man's protection, not for God's mystery.

well many will embrace him because people don't want an absolute truth because then, they would have to face the fact of it isn't a do what feels good world, that there is right and wrong. and he is suppose to be a brilliant man but for him to say this after the discoveries in dna. and to look at way things work there is a design and order to everything, nothing is really random. things just don't become from nothing on their own. even when people create choas there is an order to how to do it. like the saying goes a method to the madness. thanks God He is in control. even with evidence of how some of the laws we have made concerning our universe have been proven to not work in other universes outside ours.

I find Stephen Hawking's comments interesting considering he needs the aid of a wheelchair and who knows what else, to get anywhere. I would suggest we roll him out of that thing and see where the Law of Physics takes him. I think we would find that slug could make more progress than this poor, misguided individual.
