America is less Christian than ever before, despite mighty efforts in recent years to bring God into society and politics. But are we less Christian, or are we less able to recognize Christianity? Glenn Beck answered this question for us recently during his “Restoring Honor” rally in Washington. “Americans don’t recognize Obama’s brand of Christianity,” Beck stated. What Beck stumbled onto, but didn’t fully or accurately articulate, is that there is a struggle occurring for the soul of Christianity – and it is this struggle that is polarizing us and our politics.
