Though separated by only 5.69 miles, Country Club Christian Church and the Kansas City Urban Youth Center couldn’t be much further apart. The church sits splendidly amid Ward Parkway’s opulence. The youth center takes up a corner in an urban core neighborhood marked by graffiti and shuttered storefronts. But Saturday, the two were linked by a few good hearts. As part of the church’s “Grace at Work” day, about a dozen Country Club congregants arrived midmorning at the center to clean, paint, trim hedges, hammer nails and cart off trash. The event kicked off 90 days of service to celebrate the church’s 90th anniversary.
