A spokesman for a pro-family legal group is pleased that the Texas State Board of Education is considering a measure that would prohibit textbooks from pushing Islam over Christianity. A former chairman of the local school board has proposed a resolution, asking the board to encourage publishers not to push a pro-Islam, anti-Christian viewpoint in textbooks. “He’s come with all this evidence and detailed citations of things in a textbook that Texas had before that he felt like showed more of a pro-Islam slant but wanted to cast Christianity in a negative light,” reports Jonathan Saenz, director of legislative affairs at Liberty Institute.
