On November 2, Governor Rick Perry was elected to an unprecedented third term to serve as governor of Texas. His campaign platform this election cycle could be summarized by this sentence: “Washington, don’t tread on the liberties of Texans.” Perry invoked the Tenth Amendment numerous times throughout his campaign, pledging to defend Texans against unlawful encroachments from Washington.

Since the election, Perry has released a new book entitled, Fed Up! in which he states: “Our fight is clear. We must step up and retake the reins of our government from a Washington establishment that has abused our trust. We must empower states to fight for our beliefs … [and] set out to remind our fellow Americans why liberty is guaranteed in the Constitution, and take concrete steps to take back our country.”
