Tensions are flaring in the Senate at the suggestion that senators might be working through the holidays.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has said he’ll keep the Senate working through Christmas if necessary to complete action on a number of items, such as a spending bill to keep the government running, a repeal of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy and a new arms treaty with Russia.

The idea that the Senate would keep working into the new year riled Republican Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., who suggested at a news conference earlier today that Reid was “disrespecting” Christmas.
