Bearded Mickey with Minnie in a veil causes stir in Egypt

An Egyptian Christian telecom mogul has angered Islamic hard-liners by posting an online cartoon of Mickey Mouse with a beard and Minnie in a face veil.

The ultraconservative Islamists, known as Salafis, called the cartoon posted by Naguib Sawiris on Twitter a mockery of Islam.

They launched an online campaign calling on Muslims in Egypt to boycott Sawiris' mobile phone company Mobinil. Shares of Mobinil and Orascom Telecom, which Sawiris founded, both fell Monday on the Egyptian stock exchange.

Sawiris, who is also a politician, promotes a secular Egypt. He owns media companies and after Mubarak stepped down on Feb. 11, he launched a political party that calls for separation of state and religion.

But when it comes down to a belief system that encourages its followers to rape, murder, torture, etc., people who refuse to belong to said belief system … That's where the line is drawn. Instead of tolerating this religion, we should speak out against it and encourage its followers to abandon it in favor of the truth.

Isn't "imitation supposed to be the sincerist form of flattery?" Someone forgot to tell the misguided Muslim community, who, if you even mention the religion's name, has cause for complaint…even if it makes them ultimately, and retrospectively, look silly! What also appears to make liberals in America look terribly obvious and biased is how they will promote stories about alleged discrimination against muslims and protect their rights to the end of the world, yet never miss an opportunity to denegrate and dismiss Christian rights, scream separation of church and state (a horribly twisted interpretation of the real constitutional meaning and intent of our founding fathers) and try to reduce the impact of Christianity in our daily lives. But Muslim beliefs and practices…well, they are somehow instead sacred and never to be touched.

I’m a U.S. Army combat veteran and I can say, from experience, that they are a bunch of candy-asses who can never win a face to face fight.
