Willow Creek Splits with Exodus International

Willow Creek Community Church's formal relationship with Exodus International has ended.

While the decision to part ways dates back to 2009, news that the South Barrington megachurch had cut ties with Exodus, the world's largest ministry addressing homosexuality, did not surface until late June.

Scott Vaudrey of the elder response team said in writing that Willow Creek's decision was not intended as a social or political statement, but rather an indication of "a season of reviewing and clarifying some of our affiliations with outside organizations."

Alan Chambers, president of Exodus, disagrees. "The choice to end our partnership is definitely something that shines a light on a disappointing trend within parts of the Christian community," he said, "which is that there are Christians who believe like one another who aren't willing to stand with one another, simply because they're afraid of the backlash people will direct their way if they are seen with somebody who might not be politically correct."

"…simply a shift in tone toward gays."

I do not thinks so… Another one bites the dust as if anyone questioned that before.

It sounds like they may be spreading the anti-Christian thing around a bit too heavily……!

Many believe in Jesus Christ……. Satan believes in Jesus Christ…… But, do we believe Jesus Christ? Willow Creek, do you believe Jesus?

What would you expect from the "flagship" church of seeker-sensitive religious non-religion. Remember, Willow Creek church was founded on data collected by Bill Hybels through surveys and market research. Some years ago Hybels conducted in-house research revealing that approx. one third of all his congregation was involved in some sort of sexual immorality. The seeker-sensitive churches pull large crowds, are well funded, are heavy in technology and entertainment values and are, at a glance, impressive to many. They are a mile wide and half an inch deep and when push comes to shove on important issues, political correctness sits on the throne! The term,"luke warm" immediately comes to mind.

Willow Creek has found that the narrow way is a bit too difficult. Standing on scripture and the words of Jesus will require a bit of backbone at times. The easier road is to take the one with less conflict, easier to make the journey unscathed by the world. However, the problem with this position is that Willow Creek will no longer be a light on the hill.

Churches like Willow Creek bring shame on the name of Christ because they disobey His commandments. A while back, a writer used the term "pulpit pimps" to describe the pseudo-pastors of these apostate churches. I thought that the term was quite apt because these pseudo-pastors whore with the world to build these seeker-sensitive cesspools. Their time is coming though and God will repay them for the damage they have done. In the meantime, Christians need to leave these churches as if they were a house on fire and find churches that are still faithful to God's Will, Way, and Word.

There are those who dismiss certain Scriptures (God's Holy and inerrant Word) in favor of protecting their own sinful lusts. The Word is clear on this subject and may be found in the first Chapter of Romans… specifically, homosexuality is a sin and we all know that God hates sin, but loves the sinner. Near the end of Romans chapter 1 it tells us that "even if you are accepting of the sin (homosexuality) it is as if you commit the sin yourselves." There are eternal consequences to sin… avoiding it is the best answer… participating in sin brings God's eternal judgment upon those who sin or are accepting of it. Acts 17:11 search the scriptures and prove to yourselves what I say is true.

Willow Creek has not just started compromising, they have been in compromise for quite sometime.

Agreed and I have been telling that to some and taking heat for that as well…
Look at this document signed by Senior Pastor of Willow Bill Hybles amongst so many others back in 2008 which supposedly finds and affirms "common ground" between Christian Faith and Islam…
