Anti-racist group: Get rid of 'Jew or Not Jew' app

A French anti-racism group has threatened to sue Apple over an iPhone application called "A Jew or Not a Jew?" that allows users to consult a database of celebrities and public figures to determine whether they are Jewish or not.

SOS Racisme said the application, sold for $1.07 on the Apple Store France, violates France's strict laws banning the compiling of people's personal details without their consent.

Under the French penal code, stocking personal details including race, sexuality, political leanings or religious affiliation is punishable by five-year prison sentences and fines of up to $411,870.

Such laws were enacted in the decades following the Holocaust, which saw some 76,000 Jews deported from Nazi-occupied France to concentration camps. Fewer than 3,000 returned alive.

In a statement, SOS Racisme called on Apple to remove the app the from its online store and be more vigilant about the applications it sells.

I fail to see what all the outrage is about. The app was created by a man with a Jewish background. I understand that it violates French law and that's one issue, but why do people get so irate over this? Would there be as much uproar if the app was made to find out if someone was German or Swiss?     It appears you confuse the term "Jew" with a person who is an "Israelite". The term "Jew" is a derrogatory slang name used against the people who practice the Judaic faith. Not all Israelites are Jews (practice Judaism) because they may be of the same race but choose to be atheists, agnostic, even Christian (Messianic). The Bible teaches us that the Chosen ones are "set apart by God" for His purpose… a "race unto their own". A Jew cannot be a convert but a person may convert to practice Judaism, but to be a Jew must be by blood lineage (mother and father). A non-Jew may study Hebrew and convert to Judaism and even live in Israel, but none of that makes them a Jew.

No is not silly. Most of the middle east are taught to kill the jews and hate the Jews, and to blame the jews for everything. I was simply pointing to you that New Testament is of greater light and of fuller revelation than Old Testament for the foundational reason of Christ coming and teaching. If you do no think that then think where the truth of Trinity is more profoundly presented for example among so many other truths.
      If that is the case then we also should use this greater light to understand who actually is the Israel of God and according to this greater light it is not biological or flesh qualified Israel and that much is clear. I do not want to "trade" verses with you unless you understand that you operate from your own dispensational presuppositions which constitute your framework of reference for reading the Scripture. I cannot convince you of anything only God the Holy Spirit can if He will make you hear His voice in the Word and APART of man made traditions produced 160 years ago in England.
