The video address by a group calling itself Jamaat Ansarullah has drawn a sharply negative response from the Party of Islamic Revival of Tajikistan and prominent Tajik theologians.

In its report posted on YouTube, Jamaat Ansarullah called on all “believers” to kill “non-believers,” including those Muslims who support a secular lifestyle, and carry out terrorist attacks against the Tajik authorities.

“All religions, especially Islam, condemn killing and suicide and therefore, the address by this group has nothing to do with Islam,” Saidumar Husaini, first deputy chairman of the Party of Islamic Revival of Tajikistan and a member of the lower house of the Tajik parliament, told reporters on Friday.

“A reasonable person cannot commit the crimes for which this group is calling,” Husaini said.
