The Grinch (or grinches) responsible for stealing about $700 worth of gifts from an Antioch church will not spoil the holidays for needy children after all.

Donations started pouring in after newspaper reports of the theft of gifts that St. Stephen Lutheran Church had been collecting for Open Arms Mission’s Adopt-a-Family program.

“We are getting an amazing response from the news that has gone out,” Church Pastor Ellen Arthur said Wednesday. “It’s working some marvelous magic.”

The church has received gifts to use as replacements for the stolen ones, as well as cash to buy more, she said.
