God particle hunt breakthrough expected today

Expect an update on modern science’s understanding of the fabric of the universe this lunchtime: physicists working on the Large Hadron Collider will announce their latest findings at 1300 GMT.

The boffins will reveal whether or not their results indicate the existence of the Higgs boson, the “god particle” that gives mass to other particles. The seminar will be webcast from Geneva and a press statement issued at 1430 GMT.

They are not expected to confirm anything conclusive but from a CERN pre-seminar announcement, it seems that the results will be significant.

  1. So what if they find the so-called "God particle." The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob still invented it, engineered it and created it, just like everything else.

    • So far God 100% and science not so much, the best the will ever do is follow His tracks!

      -Not So PC From Texas
      • God is hardly 100% on matters of science. According to the myths in the bible, he created plants before the sun. Rather hard for plants to survive when there is no sun to keep them warm.

He provides a cure for leprosy which is complete nonsense. To get a real cure took the efforts of men, not imaginary deities.

To claim that the god of the bible is 100% is to bury yuour head in the sand about reality.

        -Jeff Dixon
      • I don't seem to read it your way Jeff. Maybe that some of your confusion ready what it says and not what you want it to say. In most all cases the literal interpretation is all you need. If you truly wanted the truth you would look for it and it is there to find. Its light and warmth that was needed sir.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth.
Gen 1:2 And the earth came to be1 formless and empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim was moving on the face of the waters. Footnote: 1Or the earth became.
Gen 1:3 And Elohim said, “Let light come to be,” and light came to be.
Gen 1:4 And Elohim saw the light, that it was good. And Elohim separated the light from the darkness.
Gen 1:5 And Elohim called the light ‘day’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the first day.
Gen 1:6 And Elohim said, “Let an expanse come to be in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
Gen 1:7 And Elohim made the expanse, and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse. And it came to be so.
Gen 1:8 And Elohim called the expanse ‘heavens.’ And there came to be evening and there came to be morning, the second day.
Gen 1:9 And Elohim said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it came to be so.
Gen 1:10 And Elohim called the dry land ‘earth,’ and the collection of the waters He called ‘seas.’ And Elohim saw that it was good.
Gen 1:11 And Elohim said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the plant that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth.” And it came to be so.
Gen 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, the plant that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And Elohim saw that it was good.

      • •Day 1 – God created light and separated the light from the darkness, calling light "day" and darkness "night."

•Day 2 – God created an expanse to separate the waters and called it "sky."

•Day 3 – God created the dry ground and gathered the waters, calling the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters "seas." On day three, God also created vegetation (plants and trees).

•Day 4 – God created the sun, moon, and the stars to give light to the earth and to govern and separate the day and the night. These would also serve as signs to mark seasons, days, and years.

        •day 3 – he creates the plants
day 4 – he creates the sun.

        -Jeff Dixon
      • As you quoted, there was light before the sun was created.

        -Johnny
      • Light is not heat. Without heat, the planet would be as cold as outer space.

        -Jeff Dixon
      • Again If you truly wanted the truth you would look for it and it is there to find. Its light and warmth that was needed how do you know if there was warmth or not? You can know little of THE Supernatural GOD and His ways with your carnal mind that is naturally humanistic in character?.

You will not except anything or understand much of anything you read about in 1 Samuel 15 this was part of an eternal purpose and was actually quite merciful if looked at from that perspective. I understood little until I received Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Unless the Holy Spirit provides you revelation to the Eternal Word the supernatural can never be understood by an unbeliever.

Actually one could draw a correlation between middle east parents still sacrificing their children for their god to be suicide bombers today.

The more science learns the more they have to dance around the designer of the universe because even Einstein knew and stated GOD is not a GOD of chance but of Design. Design is in all of creation for all to see you obviously have no foundation:-) to stand on using an 'out of nothing" everything magically appeared so called science theory!

Not the least being scientist can't use science to prove their theory, the deeper they drill the deeper more they have to drill they don't understand its infinite like our GOD is.

      • One can add to the text and say there was also heat. Of course, the bible also says not to do that very thing. But following the bible has never been a concern for Christians. They give it lip service, but hardly follow its rules.

Have you stoned any non-virgin women lately? Or killed people who work on the Sabbath? Of course, since Christians can't even decide what day the Sabbath is suppose to be, that makes it more difficult for you. Have you given away all of your belongings like Jesus commanded you to?

Speaking of Einstein, lets us see what he actually said about a personal god. "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly" – Albert Einstein

Einstein was a Deist. Which if you feel there must be a god, is the only reasonable option for a religion.

        -Jeff Dixon
      • How about answering the questions to your on comments please explain?

"One can add to the text and say there was also heat." — My question that you avoided was how do you know there was not heat?

"Speaking of Einstein, lets us see what he actually said about a personal god" – I did not say he believed in Jesus I said he believed in a designer a creator .

"Christians can't even decide what day the Sabbath is suppose to be, that makes it more difficult for you." — As far as the Sabbath it was made for man and it was made for man to have rest from the world and commune with GOD.

You sure spend a lot of time looking for Judgment and why not anything about Love or Justice? You live in the old testament I live in the new testament under Grace you look with an agenda I seek his heart.

      • 'God is hardly 100% on matters of science. "

What would you know about any of that Dixi since you cannot account for utterly alien to your worldview nature of science and its laws? This is not a matter of "just is" but of utter difference of immaterial, abstract, universal and absolute laws of science that trump and bypass your madman's nightmare of a world and a pariah at that consisting of matter, energy and chaos only. No matter how many foolish semantic games you will play you cannot escape this dichotomy. You can only pretend it is not there but then again with that kind of pretentious shallowness do not imagine that you have a leg to stand on and assume that you can tell anyone what is true and what is not…

Furthermore, you do not understand a very basic concepts of science for you are under-educated and indoctrinated. You confuse matter with energy. You hallucinate about "indestructible matter" and do not understand the very basic mathematical concepts… You simply are a grotesque and cabaret like figure with vehement hatred against God which you try to dress up as "science" in the filthy rags of your "Google" knowledge and vast ignorance you swim in.

        -Despeville
      • One of the ways we know that matter and energy are the same thing is that they have the same gravitational effect. Which Einstein predicted.

This was one of the major vindications of Einstein's theory. As an example, it turns out that the planet Mercury does not orbit as it "should" according to classical physics; astronomers thought that there must be an additional planet located inside the orbit of Mercury that was affecting its orbit. However, no search for this planet ever turned up anything other than a few asteroids, far too light to have the observed effect.

However, because energy has effective mass (and therefore gravitational pull), Einstein's equations predict an orbit for Mercury that exactly matches the observed orbit. No additional planet was needed.

Humpty, you really need to read up on this topic.

        -Jeff Dixon
      • Another evasion and story telling by Dixi the camp fire story teller… Energy and matter are not the same thing Dixon and you are repeating an error of eight grade badly written physic books and your camp fire astro story is misguided mumbling designed to fill the space but with no scientific content just like the rest of your spam.

You have no clue what E=MC2 really means

        -Despeville
      • Then present your amazing insights about matter and energy to the scientific community. I am sure they would be fascinated by your inane comments.

Then you can wow them with your idea of how gravity is not part of the universe.

        -Jeff Dixon
    • Is that the same God who according to 1 Samuel 15, is alleged to have ordered the slaughter of all of the Amalekites, including suckling infants?

      -Davidmgus
      • Thats the one. The Ruler of the Universe who makes all the rules. Read up on why that was ordered. The Book of Enoch gives a much detailed discription of what was going on in Noah's time and afterward. Kind of what is going on in the world today.

        -Jim
      • If there is no God, then there are just preferences, so what basis do you have for making moral judgments of any kind? They were just randomly arranged particles following the chemistry of their brain cells, right? The only way you can criticize the God of the bible is to borrow the standard of goodness He himself displays for you to see.

        -Nick
      • That is complete nonsense. Mankind establishes rules based on protecting the individual and the group. Tat is why murder, rape and theft are considered bad.

It does not take a book of fables to realize that the group will succeed better if the members look after each other. Mankind is a social animal and has constructed a social society.

        -Jeff Dixon
      • Dixon go back to your comic books for that is what you actually can understand and follow…

        -Despeville
      • Humpty, you are fixated on comic books. You should try a new medium, like science books.

        -Jeff Dixon
      • You mean the eight grade junk you remember or the popular "science" for ex mortgage brokers?
Gee thanks Dixi but I pass.

        -Despeville
      • You decided to "pass" on science books a long time ago.

        -Jeff Dixon
      • Yes it is…and your point is?

        -Allen S.
      • Yes,mungus, it's called DAMAGE CONTROL

        -724willy
  2. Still.Shoe me how to make anything from nothing. Science seems to overlook that fact.

  3. Amazing article — how rediculous can one be when the answer is in the greatest Book of books that has ever been written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit: the Bible.
2 Peter 1:20-21 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy (Biblical knowledge) was ever made by an act of human will (design, purpose), but men were carried along by the Holy Spirit who spoke from God.
When we read the Bible it is like looking at Jesus face to face spiritually. We have the mind of Christ in His Word.
1 Corinthians 2:16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ. (the Word of God, the Bible)

    -msjallen
  4. God is eternal. He didn't invent himself or a God particle whatever that is supposed to be. This is a mystery that we won't be able to understand until we reach heaven.

    -Aceituna
    • Finding the particle will just show more light on design like it always has to the dismay of the scientist . From everything I see they never have agreed on much of anything they discover except that they need more money to research just a little deeper:-)

      -Not So PC From Texas
      • If you are so dismissive of science and scientists, then do not be a hypocrite. Stop using all the devices that have been developed by science. You can stop using your computer, which is powered by an electrical system which science has provided us. The food you eat, the clothes you wear, the car you drive and the clean water you drink has all been provided to you by science.

        -Jeff Dixon
      • Jeff we can say the same thing about, hypocrite, You live in a world where God had created but you refuse to believe that.

So you have a double stander and keep lying to your self.

        -heath3435
      • I may not be a citizen of this world but I do use the current tools of science and if the tools were ox and cart then I would use that. The difference is the creation is not my god the Creator is.

As far as science goes we see where the Tower of Babel ended and from the looks of things going on its time for a re-boot.

        -Not So PC From Texas
  5. I have some news for these simple minded scientists . If they want to find the GOD particle they are going to have to live for the grace of God , not the approval of man .

    -buck
  6. Isn't that amazing ?, With all their research, they come full circle." The fool has said in his heart, there is no God "
and" The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom " Maybe these knowledgable ones have finally arived at the bebinning.
    Hope springs eternal.

    -724willy
  7. Nobody who has posted thus far has the fuzziest notion of what the search for the Higgs boson is about. It has nothing to do with denying the existence of God! You people need to stick with subjects you know something about. Stay away from quantum mechanics!

    -bighoss
    • Hey lets be honest here the headline gave that impression and so has nearly every other article used that to grab attention.

OK Just food for thought from less than a layman on the subject. I believe Einsteins Theory could have possibly worked as a Theory of Everything if Adam had not sinned and brought corruption into the earth. And here is the kicker Satan has used that to tap into the science of Quantum Physics to further is plan.

I believe that quantum mechanics was a redundant system, a backup to keep things from coming apart at the seams. This is where Einsteins theory breaks down at the supposed smallest known particles that makeup atoms. Yes the very ones that require a quantum leap to exist yes sort of unnatural twist in science from all know accounts and talk about fuzzy science this is it. Einstein never bought into quantum mechanics guess he never took into account Adams evolutionary monkey wrench coming into the well designed plan.

Funny that all computer technology is based on the existence of quantum mechanics or physics, you know all the amazing things science has created that mimics God's power and that can give the anti-Christs the power to be like a gods for the last days.

Just a thought not from a scholar but I do believe God would have to keep everything under control after corruption set in and it would be by design. Its just plausible as some of the ideas science is throwing out to the mass's.

      -Not So PC From Texas
      • The headline gave no such impression, except to those who have paid no attention at all thus far to this important research effort and who are fond of jumping to conclusions that feed their ingrained paranoia.

        -bighoss
      • "God particle hunt breakthrough expected today" Really explain what part does not give the impression that atheistic science is not still trying to disprove there is a God? Do you you think because we are Christians we can't see propaganda from the left masked as science? This game is not original you have played this same hand since your fathers time in the garden.

The only thing that has changed is how many billions of years your science needs to tell it took for all this to come from absolutely nothing. By the way why do you never get to the nothing part, just after the nothing makes no sense does it and even with Quantum Mechanics you will not get to the nothing because it came from the Spiritual Word of GOD and you don't know him!

You keep on the message here bighoss, 1st you tell us we "are jumping to conclusions that feed their ingrained paranoia" and " It has nothing to do with denying the existence of God!' Really the life blood of progressive science to to deny the God of the Bible and promote its evolutionary agenda.

And its obvious the headline does lead on to that conclusion and you know it. If its so important a science then tell us for whom and why ? Talk about denial and I am not talking about a river in Egypt.

  10. Hey Christians – how about spending some time reading and learning about science instead of reading a 2000 year book of fairy stories. Reality is far more interesting.
