Bill Maher in Hot Water After Blasphemous Tweet
Even as Denver Broncos’ quarterback Tim Tebow (left) is arguably responsible for the Broncos turnaround season, helping them win the AFC West and win a spot in the playoffs, he continues to be the source of contention for some football fans who are offended by his staunch Christianity. Last week, after the Broncos suffered a loss to the Buffalo Bills, atheist comedian Bill Maher sent a blasphemous tweet that offended football fans and Christians across the nation.
After the Broncos lost to the Bills, the talk show host tweeted: “Wow, Jesus just F***** #Tim Tebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere in hell Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler ‘Hey, Buffalo’s killing them.’ ”

Maher is hardly known for his reverence for religious belief, but a profanity-laced tweet about Tim Tebow’s faith has him in particularly hot water. Maher’s tweet led some to call for a boycott of HBO and is the latest — and perhaps most crude — in a stream of criticsm about the religious quarterback.
Maher has been an outspoken critic of Christianity, even lashing out against the Bible on Fox News’ O’Reilly Factor last October, stating that faith is ultimately the “purposeful suspension of critical thinking.”

Like it or not we live in a country where freedom of religion is guaranteed in the First Amendment. That means that Tim Tebow is free to practice his faith, which just happens to be Christianity. And part of practicing that faith is praying to his God. If Bill Maher and the other ignorant, anti-Christian bigots don't like the fact that even Christians are free to practice our faith (according to the First Amendment) … Well, then perhaps this is not the country for them. Perhaps they're better suited for a country that doesn't know the meaning of the word, "freedom."
Bill Maher may be a so-called "adult," but he has the maturity and mentality of a 15-year-old who uses bullying tactics to puff himself up and obtain attention. Pretty sad, when you think about it.

However, I would like to add to your comment Linda, the first amendment was never intended to be abused the way it is today. May I bring to your attention the court case of People vs. Ruggles in 1811. In that case Ruggles was placed on trial for blasphemy of Jesus Christ and Christianity. The court decision, in short, was that an attack upon Christianity was equivalent to an attack upon the very foundation of our nation. Anyway, I'm not surprised by Maher's comments. He is known for being rude, hateful, ignorant, and inconsiderate. Remember what he said about dogs and children with mental disabilities? First, he compared his dogs to "retarded children," saying: ''They're sweet. They're loving. They're kind. But they don't mentally advance at all.'' When Cynthia Garrett told Maher that her 9-year-old nephew was mentally challenged, and that she never thought of him like a little dog, Maher responded by saying: "Well, maybe you should."
Sarah Ferguson protested Maher's use of the word, "retarded," reminding him that, "They are regular people. They have a heart and a soul." Maher's response was: "They have a heart and a soul and a brain that's retarded. That's a fact, people!"
Maher did eventually apologize – only after people contacted the show's sponsors to complain about his remarks. It may be that his apology was sincere. But he should have had the courage and integrity to apologize before people complained. Let's face it! This man is known for being cruel and heartless.

They were amazing, wonderful, kind and witty ladies who could teach Bill Maher and his ilk more than a thing or two. Hawkings has still NOT addressed origins. His view of the universe starts with a quantum vacuum of energy. Well, from whence doth come the energy? Furthermore, since there is even an infinitesimal probability that another such universe can form exactly like ours, then it is a certainty that somewhere out in the infinite vacuum there is another universe exactly like ours. In fact, within that identical universe there is a living sack of cells that has the identical genetic makeup that goes by the name Bill Maher. In fact, there must be an infinite amount of completely identical universes which means there are an infinite amount of beings going by the name of Bill Maher. This is the logical end of their thinking — unless there is some thing greater than the vacuum and quantum physical law that interrupts or controls the formation of additional universes than our own. This is the dilemma that Dr. Alan Guth very lightly touched on in his Discovery magazine interview regarding his inflationary expanding universe model. (He did not go to this conclusion but did say that if our universe began this way, one must also accept the concept that there are other universes. But even this statement does not reach the ultimate logical conclusion.)
So, here Maher is with a worldview that allows for an infinite number of beings identical to him, all of which are as much a bore as he. And he makes jokes about people of faith? Really? It requires infinite more blind faith to be an atheist than it does to believe the sun is a god.
Maher is utterly disingenuous and is completely guilty of having STOPPED critical thinking.
That's entertainment. The problem is not Maher. The problem is that there are millions of people who will not take the time to contemplate their own eternal estate and rightly conclude that Maher is a moron.

That said, all men SHOULD be able to conclude that the universe was created by God. This is the point of guilt for men like Hawkings. He should be able to make the right conclusion. His problem is not his mind, but his heart (Matt 15:18, 19).
