A national television ad campaign targeting former or non-practicing Catholics will air on several local stations and cable networks in El Paso through Monday.
Tom Peterson, founder of Catholics Come Home, said the ad campaign has aired in 200 dioceses across the United States and has reached an estimated 250 million viewers.

And based on some diocesan reports, the campaign has brought thousands of people back to the Catholic Church in the past three years, he said.
“We know that out of 33 dioceses that we have aired in, 12 of them have tabulated the number of people who have come home, and we have a reported 300,000 who have come back,” he said in an interview from Atlanta.

Peterson, originally from Gilbert, Ariz., founded the organization in 1998, inspired by Pope John Paul II’s call for a new evangelization.
