Details surrounding the recent resignation of a Glenview church’s pastor for alleged inappropriate conduct remained cloudy Wednesday.

Rev. Eric L. Dawson resigned Friday from his position as pastor of St. Philip Lutheran Church, 1609 Pfingsten Road, amid allegations of inappropriate language and speech, according to a statement from the office of Bishop Wayne Miller of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

“We are very concerned about any allegations that are forwarded to us, and are interested in seeking, discovering, and sharing the truth,” the statement reads. “In this case, the allegation of inappropriate language and speech was deemed conduct unbecoming of the ministerial office.”

The statement did not elaborate on the nature of the alleged language.
