Red Bull drops Jesus ad

Energy-drink maker Red Bull said it has dropped an advertisement in South Africa after an outcry from both Christians and Muslims for its portrayal of Jesus Christ walking on water.

South Africa's Roman Catholic bishops urged Christians not to drink Red Bull in traditional fasting for Lent ahead of Easter celebrations next month, stopping short of calling for a full commercial boycott.

The television cartoon implies Jesus walked on water because he had been invigorated by a miraculous energy drink and knew where there were hidden rocks to tread on.

South Africa's Muslim Judicial Council on Wednesday warned of consequences of "secular extremism" against any religious faith.

It said any "insult and satire" of Jesus targeted "the very foundation of Islamic theology."

I believe it was right to drop the ad. It was disrespectful to JESUS CHRIST , MY SAVIOR and SAVIOR OF ALL CHRISTIANS IN
    THE WORLD

  • aldotoo

Well Jesus did walk on water but not for the reasons supplied by Red Bull. Islams have no answer to the facts

    • Winston

The secularist "world" enjoys using the Scriptures out of context as their mockery of God and Christians. Boycott such products and advertisers.

      • daves

Why does this bother anyone? Seems more like a cry for attention.

        • Bobseeks

I am sure that this whole issue is way above your extemely limited understanding, daves.

Bothered by irregularity? Constipation? Santorumentum — the twice-a-day medication, not covered by Obamacare. Consult Jesus before taking any medication.

DAVES – you suffer from VERBAL DIARRHEA which even RED BULL ### T can't cure.

    • Melanie

I agree that Jesus certainly DID walk on water and I am a full-fledged Christian. I don't understand your comment about Islam, though. I think it is a positive response for them to say "any “insult and satire” of Jesus targeted “the very foundation of Islamic theology.” As it happens, Muslims DO believe Jesus is a prophet. Yes, I would love to see them convert for their salvation, however, at least they are standing with us on this one.

    Psalms 37:25-
    25. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
    26. He is ever merciful, and lends; and HIS seed is blessed.
    27. Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
    28. For the LORD loves judgment, and forsakes not HIS saints; they are preserved forever; but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
    29. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein forever.
    30. The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment.
    31. The law of his GOD is in his heart; none of his step shall slide.
    32. The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.
    33. The LORD will not leave him in his hand, not condemn him when he is judged.
    34. Wait on the LORD, and keep HIS way, and HE shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
    35. I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree

The Christian Taliban shut down free speech. How can you be rude to somethng not proven to have existed?

    • Bobseeks

You really should get back to work, dilbert.

The ad was blasphemy of the worse kind. Jesus in hypostatic union, the God-man had the power of the Holy Spirit to do anything on earth including walking on water, making the blind to see, the lame to walk, the leper healed, plus many more, the lost saved and for our sins He died so we can have eternal life with Him.

  • Scott

Personally it takes an unfocused Christian to allow an ad like this to upset anyone. Focus on the Great Commandment and great Commission and take your eyes off the distractions of evil. Show your love for all people and nations by not reacting to this kind of stuff. I never drink Red Bull anyway so I do not care, besides the Lord said, "Vengeance is mine." He does not need us fighting His battles. Concentrate on loving people into the Kingdom.

    Don't major in the minors!!!

    • rocketman

Scott, a man with a clear mind. Why do we get wrapped up in things that have no merit? The only thing I would argue is letting is allowing 'muslim' to say the Jesus was part of their foundation of 'islam' ideology, which of course is a crock. The Jesus of the Bible and the Isa of the 'quran' are as different as night and day, as is 'allah' and Elohim.

  • JoJo

That ad wasn't limited to S. Africa. I remember seeing it ONCE and thinking it was in bad taste….but then Red Bull tastes like crap, so why expect anything else from their ads?

    • Scott

      True story!!!!

    • mose

Just stop buying red bull, its really not good for you anyway. Are you just trying to be part of the now generation.
      SAVE YOUR MONEY

Many of you seem to think that fallen, Natural man, has it within them to Love and/or respect (reverence) God…when in fact, they only live the lie instilled in them from the Fall of Adam (and Eve). They don't understand Spiritual things and bashing and berrating them is nothing short of giving a child a whoopin' for the first time they spill their milk.

  • rocketman

Let it go people, you will become like the supporters of the lie of 'islam' when you try and defend nonsense. Those who know Jesus, know the world hates Him and we should expect no less. Free speech and being an idiot is should remain legal. No one needs to protect the truth, if the truth is slandered it would still be the truth. 'islam' should take note, but of course lies do need to be protected with continued lies. That is why 'islam' is always in an unroar.

  • msjallen

The answer is in my comment; read it again.

  • bighoss

Red Bull and all those other expensive "energy drinks" are just a marketing device where some manufacturer can sell small quantities of a liquid substance with a bit of caffeine and a few other "energizing" chemicals and make big bucks off the SUCKERS!

    • mesamanp47

This truly is the crux of the argument. Red Bull is all about suckering people into buying an extremely expensive, caffeine-laced drink on the pretense that it is stimulating, but not illegal. It's not about the principle, it's about money.

  • jay-dedsaerd

Red Bull founder is dead and all of us will have to answer to God one day
