Why do you want to fight in the war?

The blunt question sprang suddenly into Jasmin's mind, surprising the spiritually seeking Croatian soldier with its clarity. It happened in 1991, at the start of the war in the former Yugoslavia.

He responded, "I want to fight for good, to defend my country. I want to fight against evil." Somehow, he knew the question had not come from an earthly voice.

The unknown voice was penetrating and unforgettable. "If you want to take up a weapon, you will be killed by a weapon. But if you want to fight for good, then put off your weapon, and I will teach you how to fight for good."

A few months later, Jasmin turned in his rifle and uniform and began a three-year spiritual trek through Islam, astrology, numerology, meditation, and Christianity. One day as he studied the Sermon on the Mount, the words of Jesus captured his imagination. He thought, If I submit under any authority, it would be Jesus.

As he studied the Bible more intensively, other spiritual interests faded into insignificance. Eventually, in a quiet moment alone, he understood the gospel message in his heart and accepted it.

There are many ways that people come to know the Lord Jesus Christ but the best way is through His Word. The Bible tells us what God wants us to know about Him and His way of salvation and why we are here — to glorify Jesus Christ.
God’s own complete and coherent message to man was recorded in perfect accuracy in the original languages of scripture: Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. The very words carrying Divine Authorship.

Refreshing and challenging. I read the entire article. So wonderful to see how the Holy Spirit can reach out to lost souls and create an oasis church from almost nothing. But it also hints about how important it is for any fellowship of believers to tap into the historic flow of doctrinal traditions that Jesus' church has established over the last two thousand years. In this case, Solo Scriptura in particular comes to mind. I would love to see a very gentle and wise older believer who is well established in great doctrinal conversation, befriend and join this movement.

Reading the full article it is interesting to have read some comments in CT. The Ancient DNA that has been working in many areas around the world was released there because the structures that man had put into place had failed to go beyond the walls of the buildings. To have the Sermon on the Mount as the basis of his conversion is excellent, he caught something that most Christian fail to. Discipleship is best describe by Jesus in that sermon in Matthew, it is in reality our constitution of faith that we need to put back into our core. In the CT there were some positive and other not at all positive, I wonder about those negative ones they seemed to be more concerned with Christendom issues that have caused division (causes) rather than Jesus' Kingdom – Apostolic teaching.The Western Church needs to heed what is to be learned here and change, note how some "western" leaders caused division shame on them for believing Father is not in charge but them. Change or die is the course of the western part of the Kingdom, Father will raise up new to replace the old, He always does!
