Obama: The Ambivalent Theocrat

There are legitimate theological arguments on both sides of our political divide, but they are not equally well received. In America, it seems, one man’s moral teacher is another’s Torquemada — the difference is usually determined by party registration — and the returns on overt religiosity are mixed at best. As president, George W. Bush was repeatedly and pejoratively labeled “theocrat” for acknowledging his faith, and even the slightest intimation that his religious belief informed his political vantage point was perceived by the Left as symptomatic of an almost treasonous disrespect for the separation of church and state.

Throughout his political career, Barack Obama, too, has marshaled religious argument and imagery to his cause when politically expedient, but nary a whisper has followed his proclamations — even when his pastor of 20 years was exposed as an unreconstructed bigot. Obama’s appeals to religion and his claim to be “doing the Lord’s work” are cynical and mercurial enough to have pushed Michael Gerson amusingly to quip that, “even when Obama changes his views, Jesus somehow comes around to agreeing with him.” His varying use of Scripture has been nowhere more striking than with his gay-marriage “evolution.” Announcing his changed position on the issue to ABC News in May, Obama confirmed that he and Michelle are

A theocrat is someone that tries to force their moral viewpoint on others via the force of the state. Yes, Obama might do this in a few areas, but if you want to look at true theocrats you have to look no further than Rick santorum, or any other neoconservative that says "we have a right to be in your bedroom". That is theocracy.

    • Mark

No. The point is, we don't want your bedroom out in the public square. Wanna be a faggot? Be a faggot. But do it in the privacy of your own home. We don't walk around shoving our heterosexuality down people's throats in public, and we don't expect to hear about your faggotness in public. Keep it private. But…it's not the same thing as historical marriage and can not be compared to be the same, especially for any benefits or 'rights'. Make a contract, designate a beneficiary, designate a power of attorney, have a civil union…but it's not "marriage" and never will be. Live and let live, but don't twist and warp what is a historical standard and natural institution by default. One nut goes with one bolt. Two nuts can do nothing together, two bolts can do nothing together. It takes a nut and a bolt for a marriage.

      • Deep_Thinker

Mark, I never said it was the same thing as historical marriage. I never said anything about putting our bedroom in the public square. I agree, everything should be done in private. However, you forget what the true meaning of freedom is, and that is not to be forced against ones will. We know what marriage is. Marriage predated the state. It needs no protection, regulation, or monitoring by the state to continue its existence.

No marriage license should be given, no state should be a party to any marriage between a man and a woman. No special "rights' should be given to those who are married or not either.

Your ideal society, as I have said, is a theocracy. Where you would use the power and force of the state to FORCE a moral viewpoint. No one is forcing anything on you, and I don't advocate for the state being in marriage, either for or against your viewpoint.

      • Deep_Thinker

The real threat to the institution of marriage is not homosexuals wanting heterosexuals to recognize their same-sex marriages, it is Christians standing in a church and saying "for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part" and then getting divorced a few years later. The real assault on marriage is by serial adulterers who preach family values like the thrice-married Newt Gingrich.

Marriage is of the church, not the state. Keep it out of the state and it will continue as it always has.

Perhaps you would consider revealing your credentials to assume authorship of these assumptions, allegations, and misinterpretations. You see, failure to prove you are no different than any other WHINO in service of Obama makes your comments meaningless. Signed, Retired clinical psychologist and university professor.

      • Deep_Thinker

Oh, and you sound like the dumb one – Mark Levin… Hmm.

    • George Barseghian

Stop spreading lies about Rick Santorum!
No one wants to be in your disgusting bedrooms, just don't try to impose your sick relation on the society and satisfy your social inferior complexities by breaking all the ethical and social decency through politicians who have sold their souls to anyone who votes and supports them to hold on to their position and power. Now tell me who is the theocrat.

      • Deep_Thinker

No one is imposing anything. I am not for gay marriage being allowed by government definition. I am not for any definition from our government. It is of the church, period.

Santorum wants to put "the government into your bedroom." So I'm telling the truth. Mr. Anti-Contraception thinks we have no privacy in the constitution: "the right to privacy doesn't exist in my opinion in the United States Constitution"

My point is that no one should be using the government to impose a viewpoint.

Keep voting for Oboma and you want have a bedroom.

Obama is a diligent worker for Satan and will use any method that it takes to get this point across. It does not matter if his point is correct, the issue is fooling the population.

We as Christian must realize this, study HIS WORD and learn the truth for ourselves to be able to stand against Satan and his workers. Satan knows all about GOD and HIS SON JESUS CHRIST. He thinks that in the end he will win over them.

We must be prepared for JESUS return and KNOW THE HE IS THE SON OF GOD AND OUR SAVIOR. if we want to live forever with HIM

    • Tom W

Right on! It's by use of weapns of mass-confusion and indoctrination that Satan and his loyal followers employ. Useful idiots!

Many of these politicians use scripture and religion to support their position and justify it as if they have the correct interpretation as given by the Holy Spirit. In the end, they are found wanting and have become fools.

God will not be mocked and His justice is coming.

So why did God put President Obama in office then?

        Romans 13:1-14
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

        • Evermyrtle

GOD only has the answer to that. My idea from understanding HIS WORD is that the world will become so anti-GOD that HE chose one that could head up, and sort of bring the evil together to prepare the way for JESUS to return.

        • Guest

God didn't put Obama in office. A bunch of misguided idiots put him in office. You surely don't believe that God put Hitler or Stalin in power do you?

So God was taking a nap, vacation or He gets surprised and frustrated by those canny sinners?
That might be your "god" but is definitively not God of the Bible…

          • JPM

God freely gives us the freedom of choice both individually and collectively. God told Samuel not to feel that he was rejected by the people, but that the people had rejected Him (God) as their king. We have that freedom of choice too, but if we make the wrong choices then we must answer for them and suffer their consequences. God does not demand that we choose Him because if he did there would be no free will and He would have to give Satan the same latitude.

          • Christian

You got that right!! This world is under the influence of Satan as well as God. Each one must make a choice whom they will serve.

Obamass is not qualified to be a theocrat , his only qualifications are those of a desciple of SATAN .

0 is using same sex marriage to distract from the problems we are having with the economy that he caused and he knows it. He has nothing to stand on to be reelected so expect more distractions. Romney needs to hit the nail on the head and call a spade a spade when it comes to the way 0 is ruining this country. We don’t need another mealy mouth McCain.

He is neither ambivalent nor theocrat.

Theocrat means someone who says you should submit to his/her god–not to himself/herself. 0bama is a treasonous narcissist!
