Reprisal killings follow church attacks in Nigeria

At least 52 people were killed in religious rioting sparked by three suicide bombings of churches that occurred on Sunday, hospital staff said Monday, Reuters reports.

Suicide bombers killed 21 people in attacks on three churches in Nigeria during Sunday services, exacerbating religious tensions in a West African nation that is almost evenly divided between Muslims and Christians.

Authorities arrested one of the bombers who survived, said Kaduna State police chief Mohammed Abubakar Jinjiri, but he declined to say who police suspect was responsible for the bombings.

It was the third Sunday in a row that deadly attacks have been carried out against Christian churches in northern Nigeria. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the latest one, but suspicion fell on the radical Islamist sect Boko Haram because it took responsibility for the two earlier weekend assaults.

Boko Haram is waging an increasingly bloody fight with security agencies and the public in Nigeria. More than 560 people have been killed in violence blamed on the sect this year alone, according to an Associated Press count.

Both religions are killing despite their holy books telling them not to.

One is much more violent, killing more innocent people indiscriminately, representing a small portion of members of their religion, yet supported, tacitly or covertly by the major portion of that group of people. Guess which one it is?

Are you too uninformed to know that calling your self a Christian does not make you a Christian or that Christians are credited with many thing that they had nothing to do with. I feel sure that you do know that, but your dislike for us is stronger than your desire to be honest.

daves says: "Both religions are killing despite their holy books telling them not to."

You are confused, daves. The Koran does indeed tell its followers to kill infidels (unbelievers of Islam):

"The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.

Unlike nearly all of the Old Testament verses of violence, the verses of violence in the Quran are mostly open-ended, meaning that they are not restrained by the historical context of the surrounding text. They are part of the eternal, unchanging word of Allah, and just as relevant or subjective as anything else in the Quran.

Most of today's Muslims exercise a personal choice to interpret their holy book's many calls to violence according to what their own moral preconceptions find justificable. Apologists cater to their preferences with tenuous arguments that gloss over historical fact and generally do not stand up to scrutiny. Still, it is important to note that the problem is not bad people, but bad ideology.

Unfortunately, there are very few verses of tolerance and peace to abrogate or even balance out the many that call for nonbelievers to be fought and subdued until they either accept humiliation, convert to Islam, or are killed. Muhammad's own martial legacy – and that of his companions – along with the remarkable stress on violence found in the Quran have produced a trail of blood and tears across world history."

The muslims cannot be reasoned with, it is not in their nature to be reasonable. Their only idea is "my way, or no way". Any group that would kill their daughter for simply talking to a boy is not reasonable, will never be reasonable & only understand one thing; power. If you try to be nice, they think "we have won". Too bad the crusades were stopped before finishing the job.

The Muslim's idea of heaven is a brothel full of virgins who are "continually made virgin by allah". A Muslim believes that his salvation comes by works, very bad works like murdering infidels. So if you are a Muslim and you decide your life is in the toilet, go murder some infidels and you will have retread virgins forever. But as Jay Leno said, "after a couple of days, he'll be begging for a professional girl."

Christians have a right to defend theselves against the muslim murders.

"Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." The Jihadists want to start a war. They have everything to gain, from raising funds to gaining recruits.
