Chick-fil-A president voices opinion on gay-marriage

It’s not every day that the leader of a big business steps into a national debate that has the potential to offend many of its customers.

But Dan Cathy, president of the popular fast food chain Chick-fil-A, has done just that, saying on a radio show that “we’re inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage. And I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude that thinks we have the audacity to redefine what marriage is all about.”

Following backlash after those remarks, Cathy then told the Baptist Press in an article posted July 16 that he is “guilty as charged” and is very “supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit.”

Reaction has been fierce and swift. Bloggers sounded off. Celebrities promised to boycott Chick-fil-A. Fans of the company reacted on Twitter and Facebook with everything from support to disgust.

Finally someone in the corporate world with some guts to speak out for what is right, despite what it may cost him personally or corporately! Way to go Mr. Cathy! When Chick-fil-A comes to Minnesota, I WILL visit as often as I can.

His business is closed on Sunday and still is one of the top fast food chains in the world. Most of these will run their mouths and then turn around and buy his product. I feel like eating a chicken sandwich (no pickle) today. Our contract with God is the New Testament. It is very clear on the definition of marriage and men who have sex with other men. It is not a multiple choice test where partial credit. These rules are clearly black & white (green & red).

How typical for the media and those who support same sex marriage to be offended by this article. It is okay for Target, and Home Depot and others to step to the front with their support of same sex marriage. Let them boycott Chick…I do not shop at the stores that support same sex marriage. I have been a customer of Chick-fi-a for years and enjoy thier cuisiene. I like entre # 6 with Polonisian Sauce. I love their waffle fries, much better than french fries. I highly recommend it. Try it, you'll like it. The only thing I don't like is that there is no Chick-fi-a in the small town I live in, have to wait until I have a reason to visit a large town about an hour's drive away. Can't aford to do that too often because of the price of gas.

I have known and respected for a long time, the employees and company we all know as Chick-fil-A. The moral, ethical and spiritual stand this corporation and it's people have taken, with Scripture based marriage, is no surprise. The majority of the citizens, still abiding by tradition and natural consequences, try to appease their noisy din by demonstrating acceptance. This complies with the contemporary PC of the liberal. Only in the event that gayness pervades a family unit does it extend any further. In short, we may have to acknowledge them, maybe even accept them, but we certainly don't have to enjoy their antics, nor are we required to like them.

I've just recently read a medical release about a study of young people who were brought up by same sex couples and it was found they were sadly hurting in many respects despite claims of the opposite.
