Event ends in agony as attendees walk on hot coals

Burnt soles rather than cleansed souls awaited attendees at motivational speaker Tony Robbins's latest life coaching seminar, with 21 people needing treatment after a painful walk across coals.

During a four-day gathering in California entitled Unleash the Power Within, the famed lifestyle guru encouraged participants to take a leap of faith and test their luck on the red-hot surface.

Emergency services were called to deal with the fall-out, as many in the group suffered second- and third-degree burns. Three needed hospital treatment, the San Jose Mercury News reported.

"I heard wails of pain, screams of agony" one witness told the newspaper.

"First one person, then a couple minutes later another one, and there was just a line of people walking on that fire. It was just bizarre, man," Jonathan Correll, 25, said.

Maybe they don't know – it's only Satan that walked on the firery stones – Ezk.28:14-16
But maybe they want to be like him – This is a little taste of what it will be like with him.

In acual fact, Bill, there are fire walkers who walk on coals. And they're not necessarily children of the devil. Some reporters, including Geraldo Rivera, have doen it. There is a special preparation for doing it if you don't want to get burned. These people obviously did it without that preparation. And don't be judgmental, The man can still repent and Jesus said that those who come to Him He would in no wise cast out.

As shameful as I feel about it now, about 14 years ago before God in His mercy and grace have drawn me to the faith in Christ the Lord of Glory I actually attended this event also by Robbins on the East Coast. This is real and I actually walked about 50 ft on super-hot glowing coals without a blister or even a red mark on my foot.

Actually, it has to do with demonism and its control. People who believe they have to get strength from within themselves to solve their problems are be fooled by satanic means. We are taught in God's Word to rely on Him through the power of the Holy Spirit within us. It is the difference between Divine viewpoint and human viewpoint.

Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
I Peter 5:7 -casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
Psalm 56:3 When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.
Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Is 41:10 ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

This jackass should face criminal charges. To encourage peopole to try to break the immutable laws of Physics is nothing short of that. It is likely that he pursuaded them to attmept this stupidity without the proper preparation., There is a particular "trick" to fire walking,, which it seems evident these people failed to understand or use. This man should be ashamed of himself. I strongly suspect he is a sham and a scammer.

This report confirms Lenin's, Trotski's, and Stalin's definition of thought control over supporters of stupid policies (Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Liberalism, and Progressivism) as being 'Useful Idiots', that through their support, harms themselves. These are the supporters of Obama, whose policies and agendas are destroying this country, and the rights and freedoms of it's people.

What a jerk! Firewalking is an activity best left to professional firewalkers, not to amateurs! I might have amateurs walk through a pit with a layer of CramerGesic or Atomic Balm in it, as a symbolic firewalk with no more than mild pain from menthol and eucalyptus balm that washes off and does no real damage, but I'd only allow professionals to engage in hot-coals firewalks. Just like I wouldn't expect anyone less than a god's avatar to walk on water without assist equipment or survive a government sanctioned execution… Tony Robbins seems to be a dangerous charlatan.

  • Ken

I would have thought that the people in the middle and back of the line might have had second thoughts after the paramedics came for the first few participants.

  • Evermyrtle

Was Tony Robbins one of those who walked on the coals? It is such a shame that there re people that have not a clue about faith in GOD try to coach people to do foolish things. This reminds me of stories of maybe 30-40 years when people would handle rattle snakes to prove their faith, This in my opinion is tempting GOD not honoring HIM.

Where does these foolish ideas come from? There is no scriptural proof or even mention of such.. Are we foolish enough to think we have to prove our faith, that GOD doesn't not know every thought that passes through our minds, that HE is ignorant of the reason that we do anything. He knows us much better that we know ourselves.

If Tony Robins did not walk on the coals, seems like it might a good idea for the rest of the "walkers on red hot coals", to pull his pants down and sit him on the coals. I feel sure this would break up 'the walking on red coals", for good. I'm sorry, maybe that would not be a good idea.

    • Bighoss

People STILL handle snakes to "prove their faith." The practice continues in Tennessee, Alabama, West Virginia and perhaps elsewhere.

Robbins is not concerned with finding justification in scripture for the behaviors to which he submits his followers. He is jut one of many con men and con women in the "motivational speaker" game, making big bucks by preying on people who feel inadequate.

Robbins has been very successful, amassing a reported fortune of close to a half billion dollars, about twice the reported net worth of Mitt Romney. It is not known, however, whether Robbins stashes any of his loot in places like the Cayman Islands..

Here is an interesting take on how Robbins gets into peoples' heads and how fire walking figures in that:

Yes, although I never went full depth with this demonic charlatan 14 ago. He fooled me enough to pay exorbitant price for his brainwashing conference which was completely demonic with a main act of people envisioning they are dead and in hell like place and regretting what they did not do and should do when they were alive. Demonic, imagine arena filled with sobbing and crying people feeling utterly helpless. That was a wake up moment for me but I did fire walked for real.

I am sure with enough wine, the pain would hardly be noticed, Humpty.

      • Evermyrtle

I really don't feel too sorry for someone stupid enough to do something so idiotic, but something should done to the deadbeat. I can' think of any thing better that putting his rear end on the coals.

      • http://www.facebook.com/jeffrey.dixon.509 Jeffrey Dixon

You keep ragging on Mitt Romney about is the fact he is rich. I assume you also have a problem with all the KENNEDYS and their money, which by the way was made by Joseph Kennedy in bootlegging booze? Would that be accurate, Bighoss? Or is wealth created by actual illegal activity less of a concern than your imaginary worries about Romney?

        • UF Gator

          Excellent, Jeffrey

        • Bighoss

You seem to be replying to something that has nothing to do with my above post. What do Romney's wealth or Joe Kennedy's wealth have to do with Tony Robbins' fire-walking fiasco?

I have never ragged Romney because he is rich. I HAVE commented to the effect that he needs to be transparent with regard to the numerous foreign accounts he holds. Those kinds of accounts are frequently used by wealthy folks to avoid taxation. Is it possible that Romney took advantage of the "amnesty" granted some of those account holders some time ago? The question has significance relative to Romney's oft-repeated claims that he is an astute money manager. Has some of that astuteness left a paper trail that shows things he would not wish his all-American supporters to know about?

  • mesaman

Eventually the bozos of this country will conclude that Tony Robbins has been living off their feelings of insecurity and lack of confidence. Look in the dictionary under the term "charlatan" and see if it fits.

  • Bighoss

It is amusing and amazing to see how quick the ultra-rightist zealots are to disown and denigrate any politician who makes even a single utterance that does not line up with their extremist perspectives. Poor John McCain has progressed in the minds of these ideologues from "RINO" to full-blown "Manchurian candidate." Poor John Boehner and Eric Cantor–despite their impeccable credentials as conservatives, are similarly castigated as brainwashed sell-puts to Islam.

Truly amusing to seen how the minds of these "true believers" malfunction.

    • Bighoss

Sorry wrong topic. I will move this to the Bachmann topic.

  • aceituna

It is a shame that people are foolish enough to try something like this, but it just goes to show that there are many foolish people in this world that fall for anything. Those include the ones who believe that "papa government" can take care of everything for them so they take advantage of all the "benefits" offered by Obama's govt. and have no idea of the real consequences of their actions.

I cannot believe that people are so gullible to walk on hot coals and believe they would not get hurt. I remember Jesus telling the Devil when the Devil told Jesus jump off the mountain and God would send His angels to save His Son. Jesus said something about not tempting God will foolish tests.

My advice? Wear asbestos socks. Oh, wait a minute. The government frowns on asbestos because of the fibers, so I guess you'll just have to burn your feet after all.

  • mallen11

Nothing will change mankind except the Lord Jesus Christ when one believes in Him as their savior. I have read hundreds of self help books that never changed my sin nature like the study and application of God's Word. To rely on God is the only way to live; He leads your life to make the right decisions from the knowledge of Bible Doctrine. To love God is to know God through His Word.

  • Mexseiko

I'm a fire walker. When I did it my feet were already from walking first on cold concrete and walking over a spill of cold water from hire hoses before I got to the fire. I frankly was looking forward to my turn. Twenty one out 3 or 4 is a realistic ratio of idiots that cannot follow instructions. I must be a calculated isk by Tony Robins.
