Muslim vigilantes declares London a 'Shariah Zone'

With East London hosting the world during the Olympics, a group of Islamists associated with Anjem Choudary and his group, Islam4UK, have taken the law into their own hands.

Over recent weeks the group has launched a vigilante campaign in Waltham Forest, close to the main Olympics venues, to target "Pimps and Prostitutes," part of a wider campaign by Choudary's associates to launch their own vigilante campaigns, based on a narrow interpretation of Shariah law. Last year, the group put up stickers around parts of East London declaring it a 'Shariah Zone.' It warned women to observe strict dress codes, and local residents against drinking alcohol. Homosexuals were also threatened.

"Pimps and Prostitutes" is a new campaign. Of course, few would argue with a genuine civic movement to clear the streets of prostitutes, but Choudary's men are not motivated by public spirit. They want instead to assert Islamist principles and practice over parts of public life in London, in the hope of carving out enclaves for themselves. "As Muslims in your local area it is our duty to invite you to embrace Islam" the group states, "but we also want to share with you some of the great projects we're involved in that can make a real change to the area."

Underpinning this is a complete disregard for British law and the authority of the state – as is confirmed by the group's website, which states that the local community should "give Muslims a chance to work towards eradicating prostitution, with members pointing to the Quran and declaring it to be the way forward for the area…we believe that intimate relationships should only be between married couples."

I believe shariah law to be of a greater threat than prostitutes to our way of life.

    • http://www.answersingenesis.org/ keyboardshark

No comparison, larzy. Sharia, if allowed to spread, will destabilize the entire civilized world and will be the final nail in the coffin for freedom.

          Amen!

        • Mary Wood

I am ready to strengthen our "wall of separation" between church and state. They need to learn our law and abide by it.

          • Bighoss

Well, hurrah! And whoo-peee! Here is a conservative who acknowledges that there is, in fact, a wall of separation between church and state. Thank you, Mary Wood, for that sensible conclusion on your part. Now you need to go to many of your fellow wingers and educate them in this matter, since it has long been the dominant position of so many evangelical extremist theocratic zealots that there is no such wall.

          • Mary Wood

I've said this all over this page. Thanks : )

          • Mary Wood

What do "evangelical extremist theocratic zealots" look like? so I will know them when I see them.

          • Bighoss

About 5 feet 9 inches tall, at about 185 pounds (both male and female), with about 5 pounds of bogus-idea gelignite strapped to his/her chest. Possessing a personal library consisting of the complete works of John Rousas Rushdoony Tim LeHaye and Jerry Johnson ("Left Behind" claptrap), and Gary North, together with a Bible (King James Version only), and the latest volume of distortions and irrelevancies of Rush Limbaugh. In extreme cases , harbors the delusion that Ann Coulter has anything meaningful to say. Home is decorated with photographs of Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, Ronald Reagan and Glenn Beck. Often heard muttering bitterly under his/her breath: "Separation is a myth, a myth, a liberal myth." Tolerant of the rankest heresies propagated by televangelist hucksters as long as they attach themselves to the "correct" political ideologies. Sports a faded 2008 Bush-Cheney bumper sticker on his/her car/truck . Has 20/15 vision for spotting "The Antichrist" and has fingered at least a half dozen persons to which he/she has successively applied this title during the last decade or so..May entertain doubts that man ever really landed on the moon, but is absolutely certain that Barack Obama is a Kenyan-born Muslim soc ialist.

            That should get you started.

Christian law? Is this like a religious war?

          • Mary Wood

            ABSOLUTELY NOT

          • Mary Wood

there are religious laws and secular laws
the first are laws people follow when they are committed to a religious sect
the second laws people follow when they are citizens of a country
According to the Founders, more specifically, Thomas Jefferson and approved by some government body I don't remember which one … wrote this as a document to promote the idea … I will have to find the "Danbury letter" for you …
it states a wall should exist between the religious laws and the secular laws called a "wall of separation" … dies that make sense?

          • Chris

Yes if you followed it – but you don't. "Our religion prevents us.." – from hiring atheists, abiding by HOA rules and so on and so on.

          • Mary Wood

            Chris, you said, "
Yes if you followed it – but you don't. "Our religion prevents us.." – from hiring atheists, abiding by HOA rules and so on and so on."

I have no idea what you mean!! Please explain: Who cannot hire atheists … and what are HOA rules?

          • joeupyoursMF!

            idiot,joeupyoursMF!

          • Chris

Otherwise what? Are you going to shoot them like the SIkh's? Christians don't abide by the law as it is. Demanding exemption because of "THEIR" religion. Hypocrites.

          • Mary Wood

I am lost here … I don't know what you are talking about… What Christians are breaking the law? Please be specific! What Christians are demanding " exemption because of "THEIR" religion." .???

          • Mary Wood

Everyone has to abide by the wall of separation… it needs to be agreed upon by the United Nations… but I am a realist also so I won't hold my breath… do you agree at least it is imperative to have such a wall?

        • Chris

You nutcases think that guns solve problems. No – they CAUSE problems.
Besides why doesn't praying to your magic god work?

          • Jeff Dixon

Guns do solve problems. States that allow people to carry guns have less crime.

          • Chris

Not less than countries with no guns. Colorado alone has had two gun massacres now.

          • Jeff Dixon

If the people in the theater had been carrying guns, it would never have occurred.

    • Evermyrtle

Prostitutes only hurt themselves and the families that they touch. Shariah law is out to destroy the GODHEAD. They are so foolish that they do not realize that that is impossible!!!

      • LeeRaque

Your god is a very weak and impotent god. It was predicted many eons ago that the god of this world is Allah and he will rule it.
Your god can't stand up against the mighty forces of belief expounded my true Muslims and your people are all just as weak.
Why not join a group who has purpose?

        • Mary Wood

Hi Lee: Weak in what way, Mr. Raque? What do you know about "separation of church and state?" Do you have any concept of "the wall of separation" at all? I think it means, your religion, in practice, stays at home. So it means to do your worship at home, not in public, and not infringe on others to worship as they please. It is more acceptable by all good people and probably more acceptable to your god. Does that make sense? Thanks. : )

        • Evermyrtle

Something like your group? Your group will be destroyed when my GOD has had enough of the evil that this world produces. He will gather HIS children
together, off of the earth until it is cleansed and made fit for HIS own, to abide forever.
          Matt. 25:32-34
          32. And before HIM shall be gathered all nations: and HE shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
          33. And HE shall set the sheep on HIS right hand, but the goats on the left.
          34. Then shall the KING say unto them on HIS right hand, Come, you blessed of my FATHER, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world

Read the rest of the chapter, it is very interesting.

          • Chris

My god is bigger and stronger than your god – nananana nananana.

You people are like middle schoolers – all these religions are made up.

          • Evermyrtle

Who is you GOD. Self? Or somebody else. Stan, is that it.? Satan is rather strong but he can never surpass GOD. Because in the end GOD will destroy him, too. Actually I don' know about many gods but I do know there are manyof false gods out there.

There are no gods, Christian or otherwise.

        • Diane

why join a group intent on destruction? why not instead be accepted by the God of the Universe, the Cerator, the maker of the stars. Why not trust the Lord God , whose plan was to send His only Son, Jesus, to live on the earth speaking His Word of truth. "For He sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:17) It was God's plan for His son, Jesus, to pay the price on the cross for the sins of those who would trust Him. It is hardly weak to make a universe, populate it, give it life, knowing all along that the people he created would turn against His laws and walk away from Him. It is hardly weak to have chosen to have His beloved Son willingly go and be crucified on a cross , dying and rising again – having made a way for mankind to be then accepted back again by The Creator, if members of mankind come to the Creator thru Jesus, as is God's one and only path to Him(( For by grace are you saved, thru faith and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast -(Ephesians2:8&9) 2nd Corinthians 4:4"the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot se the light of the gospel(good news) of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God . Not weak, not impotent, The Righteous, all powerful God of Creation has His own plan, his own covenent, He will not be jerked around by anthing any man says or does. 2nd Corinthians 5:9-10" So we make it our goal to please Him. Whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we all must appear before the judgment seat of Christ that each one may receive what is due him for the things done in the body whether good or bad. "

      John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the WAY, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

  • DockyWocky

Brits were once ready to fight off Hitler's Nazis with pitchforks had they invaded, but it looks like PC has just about bred all that feisty out of the British genome.

Someone has to lead in pitchforking political correctness before the official language changes to arabic.

    • Chris

Feisty doesn't solve anything. Unlike the Muslims when you came to America you just killed off the locals, American Indians. I always wonder when they are going to get "Feisty" and evict the evil Christians.

  • Mike from Colorado

This is all part of the Muslims overall long-term stated strategy tied to percent of population. They slowly move in and stay well under cover, then as they increase their percentage of population they increase their pressure. Its like the old story of the frog in the pot of water…you stick that frog in boilng water and he'll jump out, but if you stick a frog in a pot of room temperature water then slowly turn up the heat it will slowly but surely boil to death without any attempt of jumping out. We, Americans are like the latter frog, we are being slowly boiled to death. For example, Shariah Law is slowly being introduced into this country, yup if you didn't know it we have small pockets of Shariah Law being practiced in our country. AMERICA, YOU BETTER STAND UP before we are all slowly boiled to death.

    • John Daniels

Mike you are exactly right! This is the reason I try to tell everyone about the book, 'THE COMING: A TRUE STORY OF HORROR' @ Amazon.com. It's written by John Daniels, and no it's not me, just same name.

    • LeeRaque

There is nothing wrong with the laws of Shariah it is the interpretation that the so called
      christians place on it.
It has served millions very well and is a far larger religion than any christian group with the weak god and evern weaker followers.

      • Mary Wood

I refer to the quote above "It [Shariah] has served millions very well and is a far larger religion than any christian group with the weak god and evern weaker followers." said LeeRaque

Mr. Lee Raque, this has not been the case that I have heard. I heard you were not very satisfied with the way y'all were treated and you needed to move west! Why has your country not established a "separation of church and state?" as other western countries have, like the countries where you want to move to? It is infinitely more pleasant. Wouldn't your god want you to be happier in the country he gave you? I ask this because it seems evident simply by your wanting to move here, isn't it evident to you? Thanks. : )

      • Bighoss

My quarrel with Shariah law is with the interpretations you Muslims place upon it–including interpretations that result in the brutalization of women, the barbaric practice of stoning people to death, and the cutting off of hands and feet as punishment for crimes, to name just a few. Shariah law belongs to an era when barbarity was the norm. Most elements of civilization have moved past that, but not the Islamic nations where despots still enforce the outrageously despicable tenets of Shariah law.

      • Jeff Dixon

There is much wrong with shariah. It allows the views of the religiously ignorant to be the law of land.

      • Evermyrtle

Actually GOD has classified it. HE has not told us what that is but you can depend on it HE will take care of it in HIS time.

      As against Roman Catholic priests

      • Jeff Dixon

But you are ok with Muslims raping young girls?

Ship the yanks back to Britain and Germany or wherever – leave the country to the Native Americans.

You better run and hide! Let us review all of those who were scheduled to take over the US…although I don't know why anyone would want to be here permanently.
In the 40's you were afraid of a Nazi or Japanese takeover, after that little skirmish you started quaking in your boots building bomb shelters so the nukes didn't get you, next it was the communists who were taking over everything from the film industry to the schools and hospitals and even congress. Then you had a breakdown over the takeover by the Asian Communists,
and here we are today you all want to arm yourselves to fight an imaginary army of Muslims who want to take you over. Just like all the others and their problems this will shortly fade into non-existence and you can find something else to frighten this country with. What a bunch of scaredy cats and weak kneed Pansy's make up this country. You all are nothing more than a bunch of obstructionists standing in the way of progress.
It will come and change will be the word of the day. Get your guns out and shoot each other while the rest of the world laughs at you.
You people haven't a clue only a few do and once upon a time in your fairy tale world you kept them in bondage and slavery. No Longer! The world has turned and it is time for all of you to come into UNITY with the rest of this universe.

      • Mary Wood

I refer to the statement "You all are nothing more than a bunch of obstructionists standing in the way of progress." ~LeeRaque

What country are you talking about, Mr. Raque. Your language like this will only escalate into very unpleasant consequences. Please consider the following:

You know, the allies can help you establish a "separation of church and state" any time you are ready. We have lots of experience doing so. Any of us would be delighted to help you find a way to consolidate a constitution also. Our constitution is for the people (no matter what their religion happens to be because we are all different in that respect) and it is for the gift of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Nice huh? And we don't ever even ask each other who their god is or if they even have any! The only thing that concerns us that everyone will be able to pursue happiness, while remaining within the law, which is formulated by representatives in free elections, again, by the people. Does that make any sense at all to you?

        • Chris

He's right – you are still living in the dark ages with your guns.

Your comment "We don't ever ask each other who their god is" is a flat out lie. People lose their jobs, fail to get jobs and get harassed on this all the time.

          • Mary Wood

Again Chris… who are you talking to… I worked in a university (PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD) and that is NEVER done … to discuss religion or even ask people about their religion… you have to stop being so judgmental … If people lose their jobs they are sharing personal stuff they shouldn't be sharing at work!!! I am not kidding. The work place is not a place you want to share private stuff. I learned that not only from personal experience, but from family members and friends. We live in a land of DIVERSITY Chris! That means the person next to at work could be diametrically opposed to anything you do… and when you start problems at work… you WILL GET FIRED… GET REAL CHRIS.

NO, HE IS NOT RIGHT. WHERE DID YOU COME FROM THAT EVERYONE WILL LIKE YOU AT WORK NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE OR WHAT YOU BELIEVE.!

          • Jeff Dixon

Chris, he is a religious loon as well. Why do you give him a pass?

          • Mary Wood

they certainly are not all alike… here is the proof!!!

      • Bighoss

Your sense of proportion is desperately in need of adjustment, LeeRaque, if you consider World War II to be a "little skirmish." That characterization alone destroys any credibility you might have wished to establish in this forum.

    • Chris

We already have Americans killing people here as it is – a few more will probably not be noticed.

  • fliteking

Wished they'd come to my hometown and try the same, there'd be a line of pick-ups a mile long waiting on their arrival.

    • LeeRaque

How boastful and daring of you. If you saw one good Muslim coming down the road you would run like the pansy you are.

      • Mary Wood

To Mr Raque: Your thought is wishful thinking and I am sure you know it. : )

        • Chris

We have laws to keep order in this country and you would promptly be arrested and put in jail.

          • Mary Wood

Chris are you writing this to me or Mr Raque? It came to me, Mary Wood! Please rewrite it to him. I hope you did not mean me. I am innocent! : ) …btw, the context tells me you are talking to him and you are absolutely right.

          • Jeff Dixon

Chris, we do have laws. However, criminals do not wait for the police. Guns allow the law abiding to protect themselves.

  • MalikTous

If the UK would scrap gun control, the citizens of London could make short work of this by declaring that any attempt to enforce the heretical sharia codes would earn the 'enforcer' a bullet. Sharia is a crime, enforcement if it should be felony assault!

    • Chris

Why is violence the answer for Christians?

      • Jeff Dixon

Why is violence from Muslims not considered to be a problem?

        • Chris

I don't know anybody who doesn't think there is a problem but Americans kill far more of their own than terrorists ever do. People in the USA get shot all the time and it's relegated to the inside of the paper because it is so common. And NOBODY does squat about it because of the stupid gun manufacturer sponsored NRA. NRA got the rules changed to allow large interstate ammunition sales.

      • Mary Wood

        You never answered my question:
Chris, what do you think of Thomas Jefferson's Danbury letter and the "wall of separation?" Please share your thoughts. : )

        • Chris

I live in the year 2012. There are no gods and yet the religious think they run the place. What somebody said back then is largely irrelevant. What is happening now is more important. Either Romney is lying about his religion or Huckabee is – there cannot be more than one religion.

          • Mary Wood

Please Chris back to square one in my case. We have talked very little. Please answer me… What is your religion? What is the "one religion"

          • Mary Wood

Actually, you don't know the U. S. Constitution, to be saying what you are saying, although the debate rages over whether the wall of separation exists. It is relevant to you here in now!!!

          • Mary Wood

As far as I am concerned, also, there are as many different viewpoints to religion as there are men on the face of the earth! The two men Romney and Huckabee are just TWO of billions. That is why we MUST have a wall of separation between church and state. It seems to me that it would be imperative to you to see it incorporated world wide!!! We will never have world peace otherwise. We can all work for that! I don't see how that starting point is not obvious to you.

  • Richard

Original Brits, you are in more trouble than you could ever have imagined. Regardless of the percentage of muslims in the UK, they are already in control and you have handed it to them on a plate. It's a waste of time suggesting that muslim countries allow building of Christian churches. It's not going to happen and the western governments are too weak to do anything about it. Muslims have said over and over again, that they will take over your countries using your own laws against you, but no one was listening. Prepare for a majority take-over in the British parliament by muslims who will then have a stranglehold that only the God of the bible can break. 2Chronicles 7:14.

  • Mary Wood

In the realm of compassion and law… consider the question of "more worthy" compassion versus "mere" law!!! that is the phrase that was used previously in this forum to beg tolerance and patience on the people observing Ramadan. The LAW is meaningless to these interlopers.

Please carefully consider the declaration made by the pastor of the Christian Church in Washington D. C. attended by President Thomas Jefferson, 3.
"The notion of a Christian commonwealth should be exploded forever…Government should protect every man in thinking and speaking freely, and see that one does not abuse another. The liberty I contend for is more than toleration. The very idea of toleration is despicable; it supposes that some have a pre-eminence above the rest to grant indulgence, whereas all should be equally free, Jews, Turks, Pagans and Christians." – A Chronicle of His Time in Virginia. Pastor Leland.
    accessed 080412
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Leland_(Baptist)

That is, if we strengthen law and the "wall of separation" of church and state in our country or "more worthy" compassion will not rule over law. Consider the implication and imperative. Any majority group can use compassion to establish a pre-eminance.

    • Bighoss

That quote from John Leland is not one that would be popular with those who, like the abominable Brian Fischer of American Family Radio, argue that the founding fathers intended religious freedom to be freedom only within the Judeo-Christian sector.

      • Mary Wood

I know it and I don't mind … I thought they should know that Leland was actually the minister of the church Jefferson frequently attended. I would not want them to find this out later and be bitter about it. The neat thing is Leland said this shortly following Jefferson's issuing of the Danbury letter. Finally, it is a protection for everyone. I hope they think about it. The factions that want to institute sharia law will use displays of Christianity to their very great detriment. The bad guys will love to see the cross displayed everywhere, it will impel them to do what they came to do. After all, separation of church and state does not deny that we are a nation of religion, usually Judeo-Christian, but quite the contrary. : )

      • Mary Wood

btw, what Fischer said is preposterous

        • Bighaoo

Much of what Fischer says is preposterous. He is given to the production of many nutterances.

  • John Munro

Well it actually not even a religion it is a political and military scheme to make the top people rich and gaining land money etc.. they do not deserve to be here they are a direct threat to our freedom. Yet they use the freedom we hold as aplatforn to destroy ours. One look at the percution in the 3rd world countries and it take no imagination to see the future. yet most people are historically challanged why?

    • Chris

Christianity and Mormonism are just the same. The Christians think they own the military and commanders proclaim they are "Soldiers for Christ"

All of these people promoting Shariah should be summarily tossed out of the country, the British better start doing this unless they want to wind up living in a tyrannical country! Shariah is a huge menace to freedom, perhaps the worst ever!

Wake UP!!!!…they want total control of your women, children, religion, your VERY souls!…convert or be killed is the Shariah way of life…no freedom, just them up your butt 24-7…fight now, or die later…they choice is yours, but remember, what you DON'T do now will affect generations, upon generations to come.

There's no indication as to what these people actually do. Holding up your stupid signs is one thing but what do they actually physically do to enforce their desires? What happens if a couple walk down the street holding hands? What would happen if you were a known homosexual? Do they attack people in the streets?

    Psalm 2

1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
