Judge permits 10-year-old to convert to Christianity

A British judge has permitted a 10-year-old Jewish girl to convert to Christianity despite her mother’s opposition.

The decision comes after the girl’s mother applied for a court order in November 2011 to prevent her ex-husband from having the girl baptized until she turns 16. The mother claimed the girl had been “brainwashed” and was too young to convert out of her faith.

The parents, both of whom were Jewish at the time of the girl’s birth, divorced in 2010. They had agreed on a custody arrangement for the girl – identified as C by the court – and her younger brother. Not long after the divorce though, the father converted to Christianity.

Judge John Platt, in a letter to the girl last week, wrote: “Sometimes parents simply cannot agree on what is best for their child, but they can’t both be right. Your father thinks it is right for you to be baptised as a Christian now. Your mother wants you to wait until you are older so they have asked me to decide for them. That is my job.”

A Judge should not be able to over-rule the parents wishes when a child's religion is concerned.

The UK really is the testing ground for the New World Order.

    • cyoder

The judge was agreeing with the father's wishes.

      • fliteking

I understand that, this is an issue the Parents should work out together, the courts have no place deciding religious affiliations of a child.

I realize the parents are divorced and I am a Christian, but this is a very slippery slope.

Good For The Judge…..Jesus Is The Way….. Baptize In My Name He Said To "JOHN THE BAPTIST" Christians Are The Chosen People. Not The Jews Who Rejected The Son Of God. The Girl Is On The Right Path To Eternal Life.

    • Ryan

Yhvh's chosen people are still the hebrew people.
Yhvh's promise to them has never changed and never will. When goyim like you and me accept Yeshua as our Lord and savior, we are grafted into the assembly of God, not the other way around. Yeshua is the Messiah and His Father is the God of Israel. Don't get confused with replacement theology!!

      • whitestone57

That's YOUR Opinion. But, If Jesus Walked On Earth As He Did, Why Would He Ask John The Baptist To Baptize In My Name"? He Was Seeing The New Covenant With The People,The Christian Who Follows GOD'S WORD"! Not The Jew Of The Day. Who Rejected The Son Of God….Who In Their OWN Vanity (CONTROLLER'S) And Pride And Ignorance Rejected Jesus As The Messiah. If Your Really a 'Ryan'? I Have My Doubt? Pride Will Bring You Down 'AGAIN'!) Learn About How The "NEW TESTAMENT" Is Treated By "YOUR" People In Israel…..I Have. I'ts Considered TRASH As It Did When JESUS Walked On This Earth. Does That Open Your Eyes"'? It Should. It Tells You Something About The Hate Of The Name "JESUS" By The Jew.

      • Wesley

the Jews are not God's chosen people for they have rejected their Messiah. if a Jew does accept Jesus as their Messiah they will join in the Church which are God's chosen people for they follow Him. they rejected the Light and instead of love the darkness instead. Paul tells the Roman church that the Jews were cut off, but tells us that if the accept Jesus as Messiah that they can be re-grafted into the tree. to God there is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female for all are human beings made in the image of God.

  • Evermyrtle

The child had learned what she must do to be saved and had already accepted JESUS CHRIST in her heart and needed to be baptized. PRAISE GOD FOR HIS WONDERS

    Acts 16:330-32
30 And brought them out, and said, Sire, what must I do to be saved?
    31. And they said, Believe on the LORD JESUS CHRIST and thou shall be saves and thy house.
    32. And they spake unto him the WORD OF TH LORD and to all that were in his house.

The faith of a little child is a wonderful thing. :)

  • Wesley

another example of how divorce can turn ugly. it is nice to see this Jewish girl and her father have come to accept Jesus as their Messiah. it is sad that the mother still rejects him and would love that her daughter to re-reject him as well by using the courts to help her do it.

  • Brista

To the mom of that little girl, why can't she be both? The Jewish people were the first to be converted to Christianity! Didn't you know that? If not go read A Bible with the New Testement and you will see this information for yourself. You don't have to read all of it just where it tells the names of the first Apostles. Maybe this will show you why your ex and your little girl decided to become Christians and I pray you'll be one too!!! You may find yourself reading the entire New Testement.

  • mlang908

In most cases of divorce where custody of a child is contested, a child over 8 is asked where they choose to be; So in this case I feel it is reasonable to ask the young girl where she chooses to be in her religous beliefs.

This should never have gone to court. Baptism has nothing to do with salvation; Jesus does. Baptism is a visual testimony of one's spiritual death, burial and resurrection. The symbolism of being buried with Him in baptism (of the Holy Spirit) and rising to newness of life. It has no cleansing properties of washing away sins; Jesus Christ took care of that when He died for our sins on the cross and God the Father judged them.

There have been hundreds of thousands of people who believed in Jesus Christ who had no chance to be baptized before they died and they did go to heaven!

    • Wesley

But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. Matthew 3:15 NKJV the view you are promoting is not even 500 years old yet. it has always played a major role in salvation. reformed theologians taught that it was a coventantal seal upon a believer which gave the believer a form of grace that they could not receive without baptism. lutherns and catholics both believe it is a "means of grace" for the believer. it was so important that the Nicene fathers included it into the Nicene creed. "We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins." Nicene creed the church has practice infant baptism for well over a millennium and several protestants denominations practice it as well.

      • mallen11

Always use the Bible for reference, not man-made up creeds.

There is nowhere in the Bible that says water baptism
has anything to do with salvation.

Eph 2:8-9 For you have been saved by GRACE in
        the past with the result that you continue to be saved forever through faith;
and this salvation is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God; not by works,
        that no one may boast.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For He hath made Him to be
sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in
        Him.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish (Apollumi), but have eternal life.

John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has
eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath
        of God abides on him."

Acts 16:31 They said, "Believe in the
Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.

        None of the verses say
        anything about being baptized.

Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through
        FAITH in Christ Jesus.

Acts 16:31 They said, "Believe in the
Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

John 3:15 so that whoever believes will in Him
        have eternal life.

John 3:18 He who believes in Him is not
judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not
believed in the name of the only uniquely born Son of God.

        Water baptism is a ritual
that depicts what salvation did when you were saved, nothing more.

        • Wesley

baptism has nothing for salvation then why did Peter tell the Jews at Pentecost "Then Peter said to them,
“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the
Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” Acts 2:38-39 NKJV or John the Baptist that the Baptist seem to claim to follow in example. John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Then
all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and
were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. Mark 1:4-5 NKJV or Jesus himself when he went to John to be baptized by him. But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it
is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.
Matthew 3:15 NKJV she is not anywhere close to being baptized like you Baptist seem to think say a prayer one week and the next you get baptized. she is now free to start what can be best described as spiritual boot camp, an intense study of the faith. she will not even be baptized if she would not answer I do to the following questions. "Do you renounce Satan and all the spiritual forces of wickedness that rebel against God? Do you renounce the evil powers of this world which corrupt and destroy the creatures of God? Do you renounce all sinful desires that draw you from your love of God? Do you turn to Jesus Christ and accept him as your Savior? Do you put your whole trust in his grace and love? Do you promise to follow and obey him as your Lord?" Book of Common Prayer to the martyrs and those of the persecuted church you are not saved until you are baptized. Jesus said, "count the cost, take up your cross, and follow Him."

          • mallen11

One should always use the Bible instead of man-made up creeds.

            Mt 3:11 As for me,
I baptize [identify] you with water for
[“because of”; Greek = “eis”; past tense Acts 2:38] repentance
[past tense referring to salvation – change of mind about Christ], but He who is coming after me [John the Herald
announcing the coming of the King] is mightier than
I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He
[Jesus Christ] will [future tense] baptize you with the Holy Spirit [start of church
age] and fire [end of Tribulation].

The “water” represented the “Kingdom” and the King was
there. When John ducked the believer
into the water, they were identified with the Kingdom. When they were brought up from the water represented
that they had eternal life. The Baptism
of Jesus Christ: water used and
represented the Plan of God the Father for the first Advent. When Jesus Christ
went into the water He identified Himself with the Plan of the Father and
identified Himself as going to the cross and after coming out of the water He
            would be resurrected.

Baptism of Believers in the Pre-canon Period of
the CA. [The Church Age is divided into two parts: the Pre Apostolic Period and Post Canon
period.] Pre water baptism demonstrated that the Church Age was beginning: Going
into the water – identified with Christ in His death – the rejection of human
            good & evil.

When the believer came out of the water – identified in
Christ with His resurrection. This demonstrated Positional Truth and precluded
the end of the Canon of Scripture. Post Canon period – no need for water
            baptism.

            Acts 2:38-39 means:
Repent is complete change of mental attitude towards Christ. It does not
mean to feel sorry for sins like Judas did (Mt. 27:3-6). One believes in Christ
and then is baptized. Baptism was an
outward symbol of the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the Church
Age. They were baptized because their sins were forgiven. The word “for” in V38
should be “because” your sins are forgiven according to the original Greek
            scriptures. Being
immersed in water doesn’t do one single thing for your spiritual life. Water
cannot do anything for your spiritual life.

Faith in Jesus Christ is not of itself of any value for one
is still spiritually dead (total depravity and no relationship with God) and
the work must be accomplished by God (we do not invite Christ into our heart). The
Holy Spirit who takes our belief by faith and places us in union with Jesus
Christ and that is when we are saved. We
believed in a state of spiritual death. Baptism
is a witness to what you have already done.
            Represents the salvation process.

Why did they baptize with in water in the ancient world? This illustrates one’s identification with
Jesus Christ in His Life. (They ducked
them under long enough to need to breathe and when they came up they were
            grasping for breath – Life.)

I Cor 1:14-17 I thank God that I baptized none of you
except Crispus and Gaius, so that no one would say you were baptized in my
name. Now I did baptize also the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not
know whether I baptized any other. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but
to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ
            would not be made void.

          • Wesley

Then Peter said to them,“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for/eis (unto) the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who
are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” Acts 2:38-39 NKJV
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made for/eis salvation. Romans 10:10 NKJV
using what you stated, "because" with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made "because" salvation, would be a better would work better right. the for in for salvation in Romans 10:10 is the same greek word used in Acts 2:38 for remission of sins.

the real rendering of Romans 10:10 NKJV is For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto/eis salvation.

          • mallen11

Wesley, I have given you plenty of information from God's Word to disagree with your beliefs and I am not here to convince you the way I believe. I am very happy with the way I believe and will never be convinced by you are anyone else on this site that I am wrong. I will make my comments as you will and my prayer is that you have simply believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior adding nothing to faith since Christ paid the full debt for us on the cross. Baptism has nothing to do with salvation. BTW, I am not a Baptist but a Bible believing Christian who has been saved by His grace studying His Word daily to grow in grace and knowledge of my Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

          • merriel

Wesley! Baptism is NOT a necessity to be saved. The thief on the cross beside Jesus Christ was NOT baptised. He didn't have a chance to testify to anyone, he didn't have a chance to be baptised. He accepted Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ told him that that very day he ( the criminal) would be in paradise with him (Jesus Christ.

So now she is a "Completed Jew". She has accepted the Messiah and answered the final calling of the God of Israel. God's blessings on her and her family.

I Believe that the child was a Christian even before the Judge decided that she could be a Christian. But he did the right and hopefully made a step that will lead more people, especially judges, who have the opportunity to help the downtrodden Christian peoples

This is just wrong the parents should have worked this out. Government needs to stay the HE** out of the family.

This is is Jewish, as long as she lives.
No matter that she may conveet to Christianity,
She was a Jew, and that can never be taken away from her.
It appears as though the father is unstable.
When she wants tto marry one day, and wants to marry a Jew, she will not have to re=convert. She IS JEWISH, and will then revert to her birth religion as Jewish.
This judge is obviously no very pro Jewish.
    His judgement is wrong.
He should have kept out of religious disputes.
WE do not recognise jesus as the Messiah, as he did notfulfill al the the signs according to the Torah which was given to the world .
One day, when the true Messiah arrives, the whole world will convert to Judaism and appologise for the murder of millions of Jews throughout the ages.

The Jews ARE God's chosen people.

    • James C. Harrison

To begin with, Judaism is not a race; it is a culture, Christians have come from every culture on earth, every kindred tongue and tribe. Most present day Jews are simply descendents of converts of eastern Europe. They should not be picked on nor placed on a pedestal. They are as mongrelized as I am. God puts no premium on pedigree. Abraham is the father of all the faithful down through history who have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, Jew or Greek. "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:29). He fulfilled every prophecy He came to fulfill. He returned to His Father and now sits at His right hand as the earth is made His footstool (Psalm 110:1) through the power of His gospel (Matthew 28;18-20). He will achieve from His throne in heaven what He came to earth to finish. "For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea" (Habakkuk 2:14).

Judge permits 10-year-old to convert to ChristianityThere is no authority given to any judge to "permit" anyone one to accept Christian Salvation and become Baptized. No one has any right to compel the father of the child to act contrary to his Genuine Christian faith. May our Father bless the child and her father for their brave defiance of the synagogue Satan.

The oxymoronic term, "Judeo-Christian" that appears here among the commentators describes the confusion that inherent with the Anti-Christ religion of Judaism. Talmudists (So-called "Jews") reject any notion is Christian doctrine, history and baptism. All genuine Christian Adherents are bound by faith to reject all anti-Christ practice and doctrine. The Talmud requires all the so-called Jews to hate Yeshua! Any that are not "Jews" are to be killed for reading the Bible (Torah) that the so-called "Jews" deceptively claim identifies the "Jews" as the Children of the Promise. This they claim in order to proclaim that "Jews" rule all others – those that are not "Jews" whom the Jews call "Goyim" (same as cattle). Genuine Christians must reject this lie. Christians are all brothers and Christians have One Teacher, the Christ who is Yeshua (Jesus). Yeshua declared the truth that makes men free. Our Savior King declared to the so-called "Jews" (Talmudist Pharisees). "Woe unto you Pharisees! You Hypocrites! "You are of your father the devil who was a murderer from the beginning. " You are of a synagogue of Satan!"

Genuine Christians are taight by their One Teacher, the Christ who is Yeshua (Jesus). "No man can serve to masters for he will love one and hate the other." In a vain attempt to defeat this self-evident truth the hate-filled Talmudist "Jew" accuses every truthful act to be "Anti-Semitic" which is in itself a deception since the "Jew" is not of any race or Semitic group. The "Jews" are most certainly not the Israelite Children ofthe Promise. Neither is there any rightful claim to the land in Occupied palestine! "Jew" is the name of the Talmudic doctrine. "Jew" is not any race! One can cease being a "Jew" at any time. The child here "C" has done so. A thing called "Judeo-Christianity" ("Satanic- Christianity") cannot exist. Genuine Christianity is founded on liberty, love and forgiveness. The Christian confesses sin and repents. Talmudic Judaism prohibits these! Instead Talmudic Judaism requires, hateful conduct, lies, murder, perversion and the subjugation of all. We celebrate the salvation and Baptism of this Little One known as "C" and all who are blessed with the knowledge and the faithful spirit of our Savior King and Teacher, Yeshua, the Christ.
