Berenstain Bears Fans Pull Bigot Card on Chick-fil-A

The Chick-fil-A flap hasn’t died down yet, but the record-breaking sales on Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day may be an anomaly and the face of kid's meals at the restaurant may forever change in the wake of the drama.

That’s because although most voters view the chicken chain favorably, most don’t plan to change their eating habits because of the controversy over Chick-fil-A president and COO Dan Cathy’s support of traditional marriage.

So says a Rasmussen survey.

Only 13 percent of likely U.S. voters are likely to boycott Chick-fil-A, according to the survey. Overall, 61 percent view the chicken chain favorably.

Meanwhile, the Chick-fil-A battle continues on an unlikely front: children's toys.

Chick-Fil-A's CEO is funding hate organizations that lie about gays and other matters. Stop twisting the story. There is no "Threat to traditional marriage". Nobody is asking you to change your ways at all. Nobody is promoting the banning of divorce – the true embodiment of breaking "God's Holy Union" It's about allowing gays equal rights including the right to marriage – the right which you religious dismiss so easily in divorce.

    • tlc65

You obviously have "hate" confused with a belief or opinion that opposes what you believe. Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean that they hate you. Do you consider your attitude (which opposes most Christians) to be hate? Then why would you equate Christian beliefs to be hate?

      • MGM46

The radicals can never tell the difference.

    • just ramblin

Go to a muslim country and do your thing. The only hate organization is you.
      just rambling

    • seektruth

Name ONE hate organization that CFA is supporting. and in that process of discovery, truly examine what these so-called "hate organizations" do.

      • http://www.answersingenesis.org/ keyboardshark

That would be too hard for Chris. His mind is already made up. Don't confuse him with the facts.

        • MGM46

Somebody said Chris' mind was like concrete – mixed up and permanently set.

      • MGM46

You don't really think this radical can tell the difference between standing for traditional marriage, and hate, do you? Let me answer that – he has not a clue.

    • agbjr

Dan Cathy is a PRIVATE person with a PRIVATE family-owned business therefore he has the right to decide what he does with HIS money. How do you know what Chick-fil-A Corporate does with income? Are you privy to their corporate expense reports and balance sheets? Or are you taking a cue from Harry Reid: " I know someone who heard it so it must be true and if you disagree then you must prove me wrong and until you do then it must be truth!" Keep spouting your leftist propaganda and outright slander … Joseph Goebbels would be proud of you.

    • Gordon

Dan Cathy is standing on firm biblical ground in his position. Organizations that help homosexuals (male or female) break free from their bondage and repent are saving people from an eternity in outer darkness. There is no such thing as "gay marriage", it does not exist except in the darkened minds of people who want God to bless what He has clearly cursed.
By the way, divorce is something that God hates (Malachi 2:16), according to Jesus, Moses allowed divorce to accommodate hard-hearted people. Jesus did NOT allow divorce for adultery, but only for fornication (a different word than adultery) and only for the Jews in Matthew 5 and 19 due to their very binding betrothal custom, which could only be ended by a legal divorce prior to entering the covenant of marriage. That allowance does not appear in Luke or Mark which were written to gentiles. ***Please note that Dan Cathy commented on being married to our "first" wives.

      • Dewey Landrum

Isn't it strange that in a poll that was taken sometime ago they asked how often you go to church. Then they asked what political party you were. The ones that said they usually went to church at least once a week or more were republicans and the ones that didn't go at least once a month were democrats. Now, it did not say that all democrats do not go to church. It did say the majority very seldom go to church. So you can see why our country is going down hill fast.

    • Aristophanes

chris – so typical of a liberal. Dan Cathy says he supports the biblical definition of marriage. In no way did he spew the hatred that is coming out of your mouth and all the liberals and homosexuals. I think the homosexuals are having so much trouble with this because it does point out their deviant behavior.
And, yes, for the thousandth time – the homosexuals do NOT want equal rights, they want special rights. They can marry a member of the opposite sex (that is equal rights). I am really sick and tired of people like you wanting to cater to a minority (1.8% of the population). It is time America started listening to the majority and by the obvious huge turnout on Chick-fil-A appreciation day and the fact that several states have vetoed homosexual marriage (California has done that!!) should tell the homosexuals that this is very unpopular and they need to back off.

    • David

Chris, let's see if we can have a calm, didactic exchange here. I will try not to ask "leading questions." Deal?

      1. Why is it so important to insist that the state define marriage's meaning? Does anyone care about old Biblical tenets?

      2. Do you believe that there may be medical reasons why blood donors are asked about their sexual activity or do you believe that this is unfair profiling?

      3. Would not a "civil union" that provides the same legal, financial, and health care benefits also create "equality?"

FYI, I am both a committed Christian and a "person of color." I find it pretty difficult to "hate" anyone and look at myself in the mirror, but on the latter point Dr. King long ago espoused the correct, Biblical view long ago – "the content of their character."

What I am saying here is, "tolerance works both ways."

      God Bless You!

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/RQSXJIXIII53M6WBYPBPI5I5HI A

Chris is an obvious source of unadulterate garbage on a lot of Christian sites. Don't bother to listen to him. He is obviously an uneducated, arrogant fool, as are so many of his stripe.

    • Evermyrtle

We do not need to lie about them, they do their own damage all by themselves.

    • MGM46

Name a hate organization that they fund and see if it is hate or just a stand for traditional marriage. You radicals have a hard time telling the difference.

  • Ron

I've never seen a Chick-Fil_A restaurant, but, if one comes to this area, you can be sure I'll go there Are we still in the majority? If so, lets vote out the liberal establishment!

    • Evermyrtle

You are right!! i hope Chif-Fil-A will soon have one of they businesses in every town of any reasonable size. There in not closer that 35 miles to me. if one omes here I will patronize it at every chance.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=661932942 Linda Falke

I agree. I would have loved to pay a visit to a Chick-fil-A restaurant, but the closest one is in California. There is no way that I'm driving all the way down there to eat at a restaurant, when I can just as easily support them by speaking out against the hatred and lies of the so-called "love and tolerance" party.

    • http://www.facebook.com/wimpy.lowmiller Donald Lowmiller

      I'm with you !!

  • JmLRk

Ah, no, Chris. It's about maintaining the definition of a God-ordained institution that is the basis of the family and a pillar of society. If you're intellectually honest, you'd know that studies prove homosexual unions are statistically more prone to having their (un)holy unions broken by infidelity and damaged by physical abuse by one partner against the other. And yes, sodimite marriage IS a threat to traditional marriage, firstly by its diminishing of the value of the institution and secondly by the threat of government sanction against institutions, churches who take the bible seriously primary among them, that would force them to do something against their conscience and and morality, such as uniting homosexuals in matrimony.

As for divorce, Chris,m if you're so interested in truth, I'd suppose you'd read the biblical allowance for divorce because of adultery.

Gays can live with each other all they like. States may even allow them many of the same property and fiscal rights of married couples. But's let's not get the government involved more than it already has, especially under the current community activist in chief, in matters involving freedom of religious practice and conscience, which federally authorized homosexual marriage would exacerbate measurably.

  • Jackie

Chick-fil-A does NOT discriminate against gays. If you believe the news, then you know several gays who WORK FOR Chick-fil-A spoke up against the marriage statement. I believe Chick-fil-A just like Home Depot has the right to say how they feel about Gay marriage. Thank goodness we are at least supposed to have free speech in the United States. Does not mean we have to agree with what is said. There are many things in this country that are a threat to " traditional marriage", including the heterosexuals who choose to live together, have sex outside of marriage and children. And I do not even want to get started on Hollywood.

  • Ron

Chris, Gay's have MORE THEN equal rights. They are taking over our country! Now they are saying our Bible has "hate messages" in it. and so forth. In Denmark people are getting jail time for speaking their minds. No, this is not the same America that I grew up in, thank's to the ACLU and Gay's etc…..etc…..etc. What's next on your agenda?

    • Washington22

Two thoughts, Ron……………..One, THEY can't take over the country with only 2%of them as a head count…………….and two, we can't allow it………we don't need to pay any attention to them, not recognize them. When our so -called leaders do, we must protest. We need to show them that America isn't buying it………It's simple numbers, here. The other 98% of us have been too quiet, fearing PC accusations……….Well, no more………..I'm a homophobe……. No one is denying them their privacy, not even their debauchery…………..we just don't want to participate or acknowledge any special rights. And as for hate messages in the bible, we have the right to read the bible, they can even read porn if they want…………..They should check out the Koran, if they think that hate speach is worth mentioning……………As for me, I read my bible, and I'm a homophobe and proud of it.

  • Ron

e.g. Hate Crimes. The way it's always been, someone punches another person. He gets charged with A&B, and goes to court etc. Now, if the person claims to be a Homo. it becomes a "Hate Crime" and the punishment is greater. So the non-homo is set below the actual homo. Does this sound fair? Heck no!

    • Wesley

hate crimes violate the constitution of the USA for we are guaranteed that we are innocent until proven guilty. hate crimes says you are guilty until you can prove your innocent.

      • Evermyrtle

All crimes are caused by greed or hate or both.

      • http://www.answersingenesis.org/ keyboardshark

Yes, Wesley, hate crimes legislation throws out the concept of equal justice under the law. The table gets tilted in favor of homos as a special 'protected' class of people, making everyone else inferior in the sight of the law.

  • Lipstickmom

Even if you are not a Christian surely you cannot deny from the facts that this behavior is harmful. Just check the CDC data or donate blood and you will be asked questions whether or not you participate in unsafe sex which includes homosexuality. Why would a common sense society choose to uphold a life choice that is harmful in so many ways. You see just because you don't believe in God and His truth does not exempt you from the bad consequences of your bad choices. Because we live in a country that allows you to be free, we cannot deny you your very poor choice however, do not expect us to be silent as the militant homosexual groups continue to push their agenda on us and our children. I don't care what you do in your bedroom but why is your bedroom activity spilling out into our classrooms? I teach my kids the golden rule to treat people the way they would like to be treated but not to accept bad choices that are harmful to those involved and eventually to society as a whole.

    • Bighoss

Correct! When two "loving individuals" of the same gender express their erotic love by misusing their reproductive organs in unhygienic (http://conservapedia.com/Gay_bowel_syndrome) and unnatural ways, that IS DEVIANT BEHAVIOR and is deserving of no endorsement from society..

  • Gerry

I appreciate the love and compassion that the christians and most americans show towards each other holding to the values God has given to us. Let's eat more chicken, I hope Chick-Fil-A come to Washington State.

    • David

I hope they come BACK to Oregon! Can't see any reason why not; they operate in CALIFORNIA!

    • David S.

I, too, want to see one in WA – the nearest one is over in Idaho. Don't like Chick-Fil-A? Don't eat there! How exactly are we bigots for supporting traditional marriage? I try and follow Matthew 7:1 "Judge not lest ye be judged yourself" and view all humans as equal. So where is the bigotry? They run their business the way they want to within the confines of the law, so where is the problem?

  • LouiseCA

Henson needs to be held accountable for those funds and made to repay them back to Chick-fil-A. As far as I know, it's illegal to accept a donation for one purpose and use it for something else. Not that I'll hold my breath waiting for the authorities to look into it.

  • Dan

Berenstain Bears website says don't complain to us, talk to Chick-fil-A. They don't plan to change their affiliation, or if they do, they're not saying so on their website.
Ron – I ate there for the first time the other week and the food is great.

  • Vet 2

What a person does in the bedroom is his/her business. A child should not be subjected to this very mature, private, personal subject. Just as we proclaim freedom of religion, this should include respect for these beliefs. "Marriage" by definition, and Christian doctrine is "between a man and woman". If a pastor or priest will perform the ceremony for a same sex marriage, that's the church's issue to judicate. There is a formal Webster definition for "unions" other than a man and a woman. It is "wedlock"! So..let same sex "wedlocks" be recognized for all the legal reasons & benefits. "Gays" stop the public displays, the efforts to teach this lifestyle in schools and the promotion of any deviation
from the basic man/woman family unit. I know this will never happen, as with so very many social issues that are increasing…with disasterous results to the stability & decline of our nation.

  • Evermyrtle

For liberals to boycott Chick-Fil-A must be an honor, because this means we are not Satan's biggest friends, but belong to GOD OF THE UNIVERSE.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1357090716 Jerry Morgan

There is a silver lining to the efforts to put down Chick-fil-A. They’re getting so much free advertising that when it’s all finished, Chick-fil-A brand will be as well known as the Coke brand and they will still occupy the high ground. I remember the saying, ”Call me all the bad things you want. Just spell my name correctly.”

Another silver lining, it has awaken Christians across the country and has shown the atheists, liberals and homosexuals alike there is a silent army out there larger than anyone ever imagined. They have shown they will stand up for their beliefs against all odds and that‘s what keeps America great. The loud mouth riff raff are just that.

    • Tout

That's the point: it's not enuf to be good; we must DO good.

I used to eat at the Dwarf House in Hapeville, GA which is the parent of Chick-fil-A and the founder, Truett Cathy, even after he became a billionaire, would come in with no fanfare, put on an apron and go to work. As fine a man as I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. A great American! He has given untold amounts of scholarships to the kids who have worked there.

    • Wesley

he still teaches teenage boys in Sunday School and has written books. I have a copy of "It's Better to Build Boys Than Mend Men". I have heard him give his testimony.

  • Rhonda

I am a huge fan of Chick-fil-A. I am a Christian and I thank Mr. Cathy and his family for upholding family values and not caving in to the demands of the Liberals. I am with you Ron. I hope every liberal is voted out and conservatives will replace them.

  • silentio

Chic Fil A has been one my favorites for some time , but it has just recently become my family's favorite eating-out place,

  • Curtroy

I think that it is great that liberals in business are willing to boycott conservative values. Hopefully they will all go out of business as they promote their agenda. Of course, they would only go on welfare and blame Bush for their failure but I can live with that.

  • Mocha10

To descriminate is to take action against someone. All Chick-Fil-A did was voice an opinion. Since when was an opinion in America a criminal offense? It is the ACTION that makes something criminal.

  • Mocha10

Our politicians are bullies. They voice their ugly opinions all the time on people. The difference is they also take actions to encourage it. Example (Amnesty to illegals)

  • Mike

One positive coming from the homosexual camp, is that if all the Christians raise up heterosexual children, those sinners that are light in their tennis shoes, will all die off because they can't reproduce!

  • thunderbob

The bottom line for this whole mess is: if you want a chicken you have to have a HEN and ROOSTER! no matter how you cut the mustard! Bernstein Bears is caving for what? you cave for this you will cave for anything and be pushed around by the radicals.

  • Evermyrtle

The liberals have literally, put Chick-Fil-A on the map. I can't imagine what they may think of their great favor to Chick-Fil-A, even if they did mean it for harm not good.. I LOVE IT!!!

  • Marilyn K. Smith

It is amazing that one good man stands up against wrong and the whole nation responds! Let's all stand up for the wrongs in our society. We's soon have a wonderful place to live out our days! If we taught these principals to our children, like God commanded us to do in Deuteronomy, we would see an entire world change for the better. "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven." Amen!

2:35 AM and all I want is an all night Chick-fil-A !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Mary Wood

I don't think such a thing exists! LOL

  • Mocha10

Only since this administration can an opinion be turned into racism, bigotry, prejudice, etc. etc. etc. This is not the definition of America. Do you realize how the world is looking at us right now? Why is this allowed and why isn't something being done about it?

  • OLD KUTE

The way Hitler ginned so much power was his indoctrination of the young. Stalin did the same, turning children into "snitches" against their parents. Today, the Leftists in many areas are trying to indoctrinate our children with their agenda, such as supporting homosexuality as a valid, good alternative life style. The schools are adopting programs which indoctrinate the children into accepting this lifestyle. Now the entertainment industry is getting in their licks along with the kids. At the same time parents are being chastised if they object to these things being forced on their kids. WAKE UP AMERICA, TIME HAS ALMOST RUN OUT!!!!

  • Johny Hallman

Don't forget "envy" is the root of much evil and the LGBT community envies what they cannot have…true marriage as defined in the Bible…what they have is an abomination in the eyes of the Lord and He will judge all of us in the end…we have "evolved" to where stoning doesn't occur except in the Muslim faith as performed by extremists such as Taliban and Al Qaeda, so LGBT need not worry and it enboldens them to demand more. This vocal minority "shoves" for more and our decadent government officials oblige them. I profess the Lord will judge all, but in the mean time, they need to learn to put it back in their bedrooms and not out on our streets or on mass media! It is past the time where we should allow openly anti-God behavior. God knows we all sin and Jesus preached against casting stones when we are not free from sin ourselves…so just put it back in your bedrooms and deal with the consequences at judgment time your own self!!! We havebeen held hostage to a certain behavior norm for much too long.

  • Anne Gelinas

Every day we eat and work at establishments we own or are hired by the owner. We never ask our owners policitical agenda nor his or her sexual preference. It is none of our business to know and even if we are aware, who cares.? The world would come to a stop if we all stopped frequenting
businesses because of the owners ideology. It is such a daunting position for ugly Americans or non Americans to pick on one company. If we all pay attention now to the ideology of every business owner's ideologies, then we won't eat out, we won't shop, we won't have a job. Will we? See how stupid this whole thing is. Do you see? Or are you dumb and blind to the truth.?

  • Mycountry7

This is why this president has to go. He has brought this kind of hate and discord into our country. We as American citizens. USA, have been going forward for years. He has brought us backwards to the 60's to racism, to fighting, backbiting, even against religious beliefs, trying to take away our freedom of speech. Showing our children that lying is okay and you can get away with it. Parents have no morals anymore that they are showing to their children because of this man. We need a president that we can look up to that represents what America stands for. What our forefathers stood for. When we see our flag, we get a tear in our eye and put our hand on our heart, and remember what men and women have died for. The constitution of the United States. This president has turned women against their own beliefs of their religion and their morals. There is so much hate in this country right now that we would actually turn against a business because he speaks what he believes. What is this world coming to? We have to save our country and turn it around for the sake of our children, or we will continue to have confused, angry, and totally out of control, desperate people that will go off on a dime. People are no longer in control of their feelings. That's what makes this country dangerous right now. We need to reign it in. This is the most important election of our lifetime. Stop letting him use us as fists against each other. Look at the facts. We're losing our country and who we are. Stand up for out country, our freedoms. We will lose this country. He has everything set for 2013 to fall into law. Why do you think we do not have a budget? Why do you think Obamacare doesn't really fall into effect until 2013, 2014. Let's stop fighting amongst each other, look at his record, look at the debt, look at the war that's coming because he's not. We need a president that's going to turn things around. Do you really believe everything he's telling you he's going to do for you. He hasn't come through in the last 3 and a half years. These are only campaign promises to get re-elected. Stop being fooled. The man is a constant liar. Why would you want a liar in the white house? He'll promise you anything to get your vote. Once he's in, it's over. Vote for Mickey mouse. Get him out. We will lose America and never have another chance. He knows this. Why do you think he's not allowing you to see his college records. I don't care what Romney does with his money. I care what Obama has done with OUR money and with this country. Whites and blacks, police against citizens, women against their own morals in their churches. Lies about Romney that he can't even prove. Scare tactics. He just throws things out there. Look at Hillary, what he did to her when she was running against him. She even said, "Shame on you Barack Obama." Wake up America! People say they don't want to see the movie 2016, Barack Obama. Well, perhaps you should go see it. There are facts in there that Barack Obama does not want you to know. It is not written by someone that is slandering him. There are things in there that you need to know before you make a decision, about your children's future. You owe it to them and to all of us. Every vote counts. You know deep down inside what's happening in this country isn't right. Since when have we ever voted for a president to raise taxes. He even said a while back in 2011. You never raise taxes in a recession. Again, it's just to turn people against each other. A smoke screen to take your eyes off what he's doing to our country and where he's taking America. Too many people have died to make us free. Don't let them have died for nothing. An American citizen, and proud to be one. Search your heart, think with your eyes wide open. Look around you. Martin Luther King does not agree with this man.

the Chic-Fil- e in Topeka KS is always serving a large crowd any time I've been there, and I eat their very fine fare every time I'm in town.

  • Debbie

I dont have a chick-fil-A in my town so I drove over 30 miles to support them. Well worth it!!!:)
