American Family Assn issues statement after shooting

In the wake of the shooting of a Family Research Council security guard on Wednesday morning, The American Family Association (AFA) has issued the following statement:

We are thankful to God for His gracious hand of protection over the staff of our good friends at the Family Research Council. We applaud security guard Leo Johnson for his heroism and are likewise grateful that he will recover from his wounds.

However, this near-tragic incident marks an alarming turn in our cultural battle over values. The left’s war on religion and Christianity has now gone from symbolic to literal.

As conservatives, we believe that public policy disputes should be resolved through the use of ballots, not bullets, through votes, not violence, through reason, not rage.

I side with those who say churchgoers should not carry concealed weapons. They should instead be in full view of everyone in attendance, just like the sword was on the Apostle Peter's side and which was commanded by Christ. As such, they would be an even greater deterrent to anyone with malicious intent. I'm for the kind of worship services described in Psalm 149:

"Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand; to execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye Yah." (Psalm 149:6-9)

Interesting – when Doctor Tiller was shot to death by a gunman in his church the right were cheering with glee.

    • aceituna

Wrong! Many on the right do not believe in taking the law into their own hands — just a few Zealots were cheering. I am on the right and did not cheer for that reason.

I don't approve of ANY violence. But the Evangelicals promote it by their work in Africa to promote gay hatred.

        • Evermyrtle

We do hate the sin but we love the person and would do anything we can, to help them win control over an evil sinful habit.

It appears you know very well about hate, since you display excessive hate for GOD'S laws and GOD'S people..

    • Evermyrtle

Completely nuts, but what else can we dxpect!!!

Reply to Chris: As you know butcher Tiller was a murderer he killer God's children for money.

      • Chris

SO you'd rather teenagers that have been raped by their fathers ruin their lives or die in childbirth to satisfy you silly religious beliefs? They are not "God's children" they are mostly some thoughtless ignorant humans children.

        • Evermyrtle

When is the last time you heard of a woman dieing in childbirth? It did happen, long ago, when there were few or no doctors to assist in birthing babies. In fact I am in the upper 10% of the oldest citizens in the USA, and have never known one woman, personally who died in childbirth. It very seldom happens and it is not our right to decide which person died, mother or child. You must either hava very warped mind or come from a very bad world to think that there is more than .0001% of pregnant girls are the result of a girl being raped by her father.

You seem to be like all liberals, any idea, no matter how ridiculous will do to win you point.

By the way does "some thoughtless ignorant human children" describe you??

I have no sympathy with those who take life unless it is correctly directed by our judicial system. Abortionists or those who kill abortionists are in the same boat as far as I'm concerned.

The shooter was wrong just like anyone who chooses violence to solve problems.

The wicked “mean-stream” Medias are erroneously trying to associate “radical” “loose-brain” killers with any and/or all Conservatives associated with Taxed Enough Already (TEA) Party members and/or supporters.

Most Taxed Enough Already (TEA) Party members and/or supporters are middle-income American
workers and law-abiding believers and “regular attendees” of some “House of Worship”, whereas the “radical” “loose-brain” killers are “non-believing” individuals who “reject God’s Word” and seldom or almost never hear “Scripture from the Holy Bible”.

A through study and/or independent investigation will most likely prove the “loose-brain” shooters are more likely associated with anti-Judeo-Christian followers, left-wing Progressives, Liberals, Democrats, Socialists, etc.

“Mean-stream” Medias are irresponsible in their false reports of any association with Conservatives and/or TEA Party peoples.

WE are in perfect step with GOD"S WORD as HE leads us through the Bible which lists the evils, that have come onto the world, little by little until we are about, to come to the end. I do not believe that votes will save us, I believe it is 100% in GOD'S hand and we must do the best we can, in all of our activities and all of our words until HE comes for us.That is our unfailable source of aid.
