Will America Forsake Israel?

The Israel-Iran countdown has begun and with respect to Tehran’s nuclear race we are witnessing the greatest crisis in the US-Israel relations. Will America help the tiny Jewish State? Can Israel trust the word of a US administration that has treated Jerusalem like a banana republic?

A few days ago, Israeli officials told the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper that “the US’ stance is pushing the Iranians to become a country at the brink of nuclear capability.” Very few people in Israel believe that the US will ever launch another preemptive war against the ayatollahs. The US, especially if Barack Obama gets the re-election, will be tempted to reach a compromise with the Iranians.

Israel is dependent on the US for economic, military and diplomatic support. American taxpayers fund 20-25% of Israel’s defense budget, with the Jewish State being the largest recipient by far of American aid since World War II. Israel is required to use a portion of US aid to buy from the US defense establishment, but no other country — certainly not any European one — provides the weapons needed to protect Israeli lives. Moreover, the United States has cast 40 vetoes to protect Israel in the UN Security Council.

            While it may be true that many at that time were having a hard time comprehending Christ's resurrection, I Thessalonians 4 is talking about not only the resurrection of those in the graves, but also those who will be alive at the time of Christ's return:

            "17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

            You are correct, shark, and it also needs to be pointed out that Jesus never taught that the unrighteous dead would be "left behind" at the time the righteous dead were resurrected. See John 5:28 & 29 for an unambiguous confirmation of this. It says that there is an"hour" when ALL that are in the tombs shall come forth, including both the saved dead and the lost and doomed dead.

            Interesting, Pastor Dwayne. Of course, keep in mind that it is based on the captivity ending in 538 B.C., and we are not told how it was accurately calculated. If that date is off, it would throw the whole scenario out the window. It can often be difficult to pinpoint an exact date that far back in antiquity. Perhaps you can expand on how that date was derived.

            Not saying the date is wrong, but when dealing with future events based on pinpointing dates of Biblical events, we have to be careful. Let's just say that I have been around the block a few times when it comes to projecting future dates based on past Biblical events and numbers. More on that later.

            Numbers very definitely do have spiritual significance, for example, the number 40 means testing (40 years in the wilderness, Jesus was tempted 40 days, the flood was 40 days and 40 nights, etc), but again, we have to be careful when we start adding or multiplying certain significant numbers to specific dates B.C. It all begins to look very intriguing on paper, but if the event we believe the Bible has predicted has already occurred, as in the case with Israel returning to the land in 1948, there is a tendency to curve-fit the data to fit the result.

            In other words, we start with the year 1948 and then work backwards, finding bits and pieces of data that appear to support our conclusion, rather than starting with the data and working forward. Stock traders fall into this same trap when testing a trading system. They can look back in time and see the good trades, so they then curve-fit the trading rules in such a way as to 'capture' those past gains, but when they use the same rules going forward in real time trading, they find that the results are not so stellar.

            I followed the teachings of a certain teacher (who shall go nameless) who thought he knew the date of Christ's return. All of his data relating to past events in the Bible, as well as his use of the Biblical numbers, looked very convincing on paper. Needless to say, the date came and went.

            I believe his problem was that his basic assumption was probably wrong–namely, that by taking a date from B.C. and adding or multiplying certain numbers by those dates was a valid method to arrive at a future date. I cannot find sufficient Biblical justification for the idea that future events can be derived by taking a date in B.C. (derived by secular records) and adding or multiplying certain Biblical numbers will predict some future event that has been prophesied.

            This has been my personal experience, and maybe yours has been different. And maybe this author is correct in his assessment of the 1948 date. I'm just saying it seems to be stretching the limits of what the Bible will allow, and that I would recommend that anyone be very cautious and perform their due diligence whenever someone comes along who claims to have a formula for figuring out future dates based on ancient secularly-derived dates combined with the use of Biblical numbers.

            Judah was taken into captivity at three different phases with the final being 586BC which would have it end in 516BC when you add in the 70 years of captivity. Israel was in captivity before Isaiah was even born. it was another 100 years after Isaiah lived before Judah was even taken into captivity. this guy came up with his theory after already knowing the date and fitting the evidence to fit it. it is funny how some people will buy into anything if you create a good enough argument for it and it looks like Pastor Dwayne is one of those.

    I believe that one of the reasons that America flourished in the past is because of our attitude toward GOD'S chosen people, Israel. In the last years America has begun to turn away from because of Muslim influence in the WH and America has begun to fail.             i read a report about Christianity among th people of Israel which said that about 4% of the Jews were Christians. I have forgotten the approximate number of people in Israel. If there are as many as 100,000 this would make 4,000 Christians.This is enough of HIS chosen people for HIM to watch over Israel That means that they are still HIS chosen people, the 4,000 at least.

            When Lot was bargaining with GOD to save Sodom and Gomorrah there was nowhere near that many good people that GOD was willing to save the lands for. GOD will defend Israel! They like us are responsible one on one for their decisions, their choices and will be responsible for that

However when the body heals itself it could be months to years before it is completly healed but if I or any Bible believing Christians annointed the person with oil and laid hands on them and prayed and they were healed, immediatly that would be according to the Bible , just a healing, as would an arm or leg replaced . a healing.
            One Sunday during Praise service , I slowly began to weep, why, I did not find out til a few minutes later, I knew I had to go down to the alter area. I felt almost like a fool , I was weeping uncontrolable in front of 200 people , and I didn't know why. The Pastor was leading singing with his eyes closed, when He saw me ,he motioned for me to come up to the podium still weeping I laid my hands on the sides of the podium , then the Lord told me what to do. I said there was a woman that wants to leave right now and go home and commit suicide, come to the alter and I will pray for you and The Lord will turn everything in your life around. she came down, and told me she was moving to walking out and was going home to commit suicide . I prayed for her . when she came back the following Wed. night she stood up and testified , 1.5 years earlier she had married a wealthy Christian man, He died about 1 month before the suicide effort and left her with half of his money. His 3 children , adults, nonbelievers, were fighting her tooth and nail to take the money away from her . she had given up and decided to commit suicide. BUT God stepped in , the very morning after I had prayed for her, the 3 children called her one after another and asked her to forgive them. MIRACLE yup

It's also fair to mention that nowhere in the Bible will you find countries such as the United States, Russia, China, Korea, Great Britain prophesied.             This is a false prophecy. Nebuchadnezzar did indeed besiege Tyre for many years – but, as any history book will tell you, he failed to conquer it. (Tyre is a city on an island just offshore, with suburbs on the mainlands. Nebuchadnezzar conquered those, but failed to break into the island city.) Daniel never says that the covenant in the 70th week is ever broken. all it says in that sacrifices end. after Christ crucifixion any animal sacrifice served no purpose. technically the Jews destroyed the temple by setting it on fire to keep the pagans from offering a pagan sacrifice on the Altar of the Lord again. the Romans had to tear it apart to get all the gold, silver, iron, and bronze that was used in the temple.

        You are absolutely right. It is too bad that those who do not understand dispensations misinterpret the scriptures completely. I have studied both sides and dispensationalism makes total sense and makes the entire Bible is completely understood. Israel was a new racial species starting with Abraham and the church is a new spirital species started on the Day of Pentecost when all believers received the filling of the the Holy Spirit and do from that day forward. The Church Age was inserted until the beginning of the 70th week prophesied by Daniel.

Christians need to start reading the whole Bible and not just the New Testament. The book of Hebrews is the greatest apologetical work on connecting the Old Testament to the New Testament for it shows how Christ fulfilled all the Law and Prophets of the Old Testament. Hebrews tells the Jewish believers to leave the types and shadows and live in the true Israel, the Church of Jesus Christ, that has not borders made up of people from every tribe, tongue, and nation.

    Israel has certainly not been the largest recipient of US aid since WWII. The US almost single handedly rebuilt Germany and re-armed West Germany. Germany has the 2nd largest western arsenal of nuclear weapons and is heavily armed with conventional weapons as well. Thanks to the past years of cold war fears of the former and current Soviet Empire. What we have aided Israel with is a drop in the bucket comparatively speaking. Also to be noted, Israel is not the weak little kid on the block nation portrayed here. The main thing they need from the US is to get out of their way and off their back when it comes to defending themselves. This attitude prevailed even under GW Bush. His and Condi's progressive attitude was that the Palestinian's had to be provided a "state" of their own by Israel on Israeli land. Also, the refusal to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the US and the rest of the world is insane in that it denies Israel the right as a sovereign nation to designate it's own capital. What other country on this planet would put up with such utter foolishness.

    As American Christians it is time that we remember to pray for the peace of Jerusalem like we have never prayed for her before. We are now starting to enter the prophecy spoken by Ezekiel in chapters 38 and 39. In the end there will be no one who stands with Israel, and this is the way it is to be, for their Messiah the Savior of the world is going to defend her. If another nation helped to defend Israel then they will not know that they were delivered again by the hand of the Mighty God. In Ezekiel 38 it speaks of the fury of the Lord upon those who goes up against Israel. Then He says, "I will come and save My people then the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One of Israel." We have been seeing signs all around us in the sky and in the weather, and now this that is coming up with Israel and Jesus said, "Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near" (Luke 21:28). But by no means are we to turn a blind eye for we still have the promise that whosoever blesses Israel will be be, and if we can do nothing else we can bless her and smother her in our prayers. Sure we have all be deceived, and lied to by Obama, but there is One who sits higher on His throne than Obama, and what He said He would do, He will do, and not one can stop the hand of the living God. Do you think that God will save out of Hell the Pharisees whom Christ condemned to it (Matt 23:33)? Those whom He plainly said were not of His sheep (John 10:26)? Really?

        God has always kept a remnant of the people of Israel. These along with chosen Gentiles will be saved.

        And so (in the manner Paul explained), all true Israel will be saved.

        It NEVER was the physical seed of Abraham.

    Even though the Jews as a nation are under Divine Discipline until Jesus Christ reigns on earth from Jerusalem for 1,000 years after the seven years of tribulation; they are still God’s chosen people and despite their failure to accept Jesus Christ as their Messiah; He is not finished with them. The Church is not Israel. We are a new spiritual species to spread the gospel of Christ to all nations. We have been given the indwelling of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit that Israel never had.

    Vote Obama in for another term and it will likely be the last presidential election! I doubt that we could withstand another 4 years of Obama, he would either wreck the entire economy or he would commit some action against Israel which would bring down the wrath of the Almighty God down on our defenseless heads!

      Israel is a secular state that has a much higher proportion of atheists than the U.S. They are no longer "God's chosen people." That status ended at the cross.

    If Obama performs to expectations of the writer of this news media, then we can expect that there will be a war in The Middle East, culminating in USA and some allies (the ones who didn't abandon the regime because of it's immoral politics) along with most of the Arab States attacking ISRAEL!
