Conservative Christians rally around Akin

Even as the official Republican Party continues to try to derail Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin over his remarks about “legitimate rape,” a powerful force within the GOP has begun rallying to the candidate’s side: the party’s socially conservative base.

Powerful Christian activists in the GOP have begun pushing back against party leadership, alleging it has gone too far in trying to thwart Akin and that it is attempting to sideline issues that social conservatives care about, such as abortion.

The criticism is creating major tensions between the mainstream Republican Party and a key part of its base days before the GOP’s convention is set to open in Tampa, Florida.

“Following the pounding of Todd Akin by the GOP kings and lieutenants in the last 36 hours, I've come to the conclusion that the real issue is the soul of America,” wrote David Lane, an evangelical activist who’s influential in the Republican Party, in an e-mail to fellow activists Thursday morning.

Republicans love misogyny and male domination. They assert that gays are child molesters and yet here they are supporting child rape and incest. "It's OK to be raped" is the Republican mantra and we'll make sure you go to term just to make sure you get the point about how it's the victim's fault.

    • MGM46

Would you care to prove those statements or should we just dismiss them as idle talk??

      • GrizzMann

Proof, would be necessary for any accusation. An example would help.

    • Lee Gion

That's the most ignorant thing ever put on the internet. Congrats.

Believe me Chris, as a conservative, Christian, and father of a young lady who was molested by one man, hit over the head with a baseball bat by a second and raped by a third – you couldn't be further from the truth. We value life at all stages. The fact that she or anyone is sexually abused is not license to commit premeditated murder. People in these abnormal situations only constitute less than 1% of those seeking abortion – yet the Regressive mantra is always the "victim". 99 plus% of those seeking abortion made the choice of participating in illicit sex. If they become pregnant as a result of their "choice" and then seek the "choice" of murder. They should be the responsible individuals for their choice. Just don't make your irresponsible choices and then take from me my choice by FORCING me to pay for it whether by increased insurance premiums or taxes funneled to murder for hire at Planned Abortionhood

    • don

christ your ate up. but then we realize your just a demo liberial. nothing needs to be said

    • GrizzMann

Then the Juanita Broaddrick rape, by Bill Clinton, be considered Legitimate Rape, by you?

    • GrizzMann

Republicans? How aout Teddy Kennedy, Bill Clinton, etc.

  • Morefandave

The test here isn't opposition to abortion. I'v been pro-life all my adult life. The problem here is that Akin has said something demonstrably stupid and alienating. His comment threatens to secure the re-election of the most vulnerable Democarat in the Senate, lose the Senate for the GOP and possibly the presidency (latest polls show him now TRAILING McCaskill by 11 and Romney trailing Obama in Missouri. I can't believe that Akin is the only pro-life candidate that can run for the Senate in Missouri. His ego won't allow him to get out and, sad to say, your loyal support of him, just enables that ego. The thinking seems to be, "Sure, he's a jerk, bur he's our pro-life jerk."

    • Lee Gion

^^^ This. Everyone needs to understand this.

    • Casmige

That's why still, Mr. Akin garners still greater voter & poll support in his district over even the closest Demoncratic candidate & STILL would be elected to-day, after all the maelstrom of the issue has hit with full force, if the election was held immediately??.

Yeah, dismissed for 1 single sentenced completely taken out of context point-of-view for which there is a wealth of anecdotal & empirical evidence to substantiate….

"Choice" should begin with the women when the legs fly open…not afterwards & upon an innocent life.

& don't try the "Rape" thing…it's marginally even a statistical consideration in these supposed "Women's Health-care" events.

How to Kill 11 Million People??? The churches of the day HEARD the screeches & Screams of the people loaded into the Rail-Cars as they came through town BEHIND the Sunday Worshiping chruches that held FULL Audiences.

What did those Fine "Christian" people do about what they heard??

They simply sang their hymns L-O-U-D-E-R until the trains passed through town.

Same thing is happening with respect to the Murder of Innocents….

  • Zoe2010

yes, it is the soul of America at stake… heard hannity talking with akin the day he had until 5:00 to step out and listening to him, I was stunned at how stupidly stubborn he was (an admitted no-team player) – he may think he's on a mission from God, but really with all the Christians in the repub party and they don't agree w/him or see things the way he does, then he Needs to get out of the race… he's just a dupe for the dems…

  • GrizzMann

Teddy was exalted after he abandoned Mary Jo, to swim away and call his lawyers to set up an alibi.
Yet he is not mentioned as a participant in the was on women. He did not appoligize quickly. for allowing a woman to drown. Yet, Akin, admits he was wrong, and only DEMOCRATS accepted his apology. They have forgiven him and are not clammering that Akin withdraw from the race. Elizabeth Warren, Obama, Claire McCaskill, or any other DEMOCRAT, do not call for him to withdraw.

    • Morefandave

Of course the Democrats have "forgiven" him. The reason they are not calling for him to withdraw is that his presence on the ballot allows them to keep a formerly lost seat (Akin is now down by 11, compared to the comfortable lead he had against a terrible incumbent), and keep Missouri for Obama (he's now in the lead in Missouri). They are going to use Akins' presence on the ballot to beat Republicans over the head from now till Nov. 6. I'm surprised they haven't offered him a speaking spot at their convention. Of course there's a double standard, but I take pride in the fact that Republicans police themselves and have a lot more class than the Democrats who excuse everything one of theirs does.

      • GrizzMann

Remember DEMOCRATS elect killers, convicted criminals, anti homosexuals, etc. Claire McCaskil's campaign even contributed over $1,000,000 dollars to Akin.

    • don

grizz your in a dream world only an i say only reason demos say nothing is because they think now they got a chance to beat him. they have not forgive him for anything. can you really be that blind?or are you a demo?

      • GrizzMann

If I were a DEMOCRAT, would I want anyone to bring up Teddy? Perhaps I should have William (BJ) Clinton, speaker at the DEMOCRAT convention, accused rapist, sexual harasser, convicted perjurer and soborner of Perjury, lost his law licence, in place of Teddy.

  • Casmige

The Regular Repungicant's couldn't rally behind a single mis-spoken term if it was Jesus…un-frickin' unbelievable how QUICKLY the RNC & especially the Rhino's (Read: Romulan Romney) decided to utterly threaten AND Abandon Mr. Akin….but then again, a Crisis reveals "True Character".

It's interesting how the Repugnicant's will not raise the DIN of protest with regards to the utter despicable aspects of LYING to get an Abortion ("i was raped"), or against the MANY atrocities of noted Liberal Demoncrats like Barney "There-Was-A-Brothel-in-my-House???!" Naaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh…lets disavow & excommunicate a well-liked, with a great Track-record & overwhelming Voter supported Conservative Republican because he's too extreme in his views for our Rhino-Tastes….& do so Severely & with swift-boated action.

    UN-Beleivable.

Again, this dastardly rebuke by Romulan-Romney merely shows forth HIS True LACK of Godly Character.

Rev. 6:10 "They cried out in a loud voice, Sovereign Ruler, HaKadosh, the True
One, how long will it be before you judge the people living on earth and
    avenge our blood?".

This Kind of Crap HAS to end soon….n'est pas??.

  • Terry

Chris, what are you saying. You're talking nonsense. Akin was actually telling the truth. There is such a thing as legitimate rape. Oh and one other thing, it is a known fact that gays are child molesters. Go to the FBI web site. Jews have been the leading supporters of homosexuality and lesbianism. The reason!!! because they are predominantly homosexual or bisexual. I have known men to rape women, and the women don't even know that they have been raped. Besides, it has been proven that it is the victims fault in most cases. 2 out of 3 rape cases are thrown out of court because of the lack of evidence, and because to many women have yelled rape when they weren't. The best way to hide your perversion is to blame somebody for rape. I know, this has happened to me.

    • don

      terry get a life.

    • Jeff Dixon

      Just what is illegitimate rape?

      • thunderbob

The way it was explained to me was; some one cries rape, and then it is proven it wasn't Opposed to someone, being assaulted without consent. If you are going to use the word. If you were to go out of the norm labeling , illegitimate would be a false accusation against a consensual action. An example of rape and not rape would be the Duke Lacrosse team and the stripper. The accusation of rape was made, charged and then it was discovered it wasn't true. As Convoluted as it may be it kind of makes sense. It was still a poor selection of words.

        • Jeff Dixon

Yes, i realize someone can falsely accuse someone of rape. However, in those cases, no rape occurred. It is not a case of illegitimate rape.

Most of the Republicans are no better than the liberal democrats. Case in point is when Michele Bachmann and four others started inquiring about Hillary's assistant Huma Abedin. This women has family members who are affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, and even was a member of the Muslim Students Association. Michele and the others were raked over the coals for even asking about her security clearance. Can it be the reason the other members were outraged is that they, (the Republicans) are also receiving large campaign contributions from Muslim Brotherhood front groups such as CAIR and ISNA. I suggest we start asking our candidates these questions. I also suggest all concerned read, 'THE COMING: A TRUE STORY OF HORROR' @ amazon.com…

Romney is not a DEMOCRAT, as are members of KKK are. Ryan is catholic, Target of the KKK. Ron Paul believes what goes around comes around. Has anyone made those accusations?

BIG ASS: You are pain in the ass. If your think that someone is this and that.YOU MUST BE THE ONE TO PROVE IT. NOT SOMEONE ELSE. You want to show the world you are some kind of a lawyer. NO YOU ARE NOT… YOU ARE A LIAR, HYPOCRITE AND EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN. You are showing the world how bad LIAR YOU. YOU ARE NOT LIKE OBAMA,..BECAUSE OBAMA LIE SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE HIM. BUT YOU…. • Vladimir

I DID ask this question and Gerry Connolly (D) Virginia received money from CAIR. This has been ignored by the local media. CAIR bought him off so they could increase the size of their Northern Virginia Madrassa.

    • Oscar Dar

Jerry Million,– You are just partly right and wrong… To attack our enemies is not wrong and to attack our own is wrong. The Muslim assistant of Hillary Clinton, " HAS CONNECTIONS" with the terrorists and with Muslim Brotherhood, then Michele Bachmann is right to have her investigated. YOU MUST know that AMERICA has been infiltrated by the Muslims for a long time and become more prevalent when Obama became the illegal president. AMERICA can not give this "ENEMIES" enough room and time to "IKILL US". They are all over the world. And soon you will find yourself hiding inside your own underwear. Soon you can hide NO MORE.. WE MUST DRAW OUR GUNS BEFORE THEY ARE INSIDE OUR "PANTRIES" TO GET ALL OUR FOODS.
Now on the case of Todd Akin, we Christians must stand firm on our convictions. We can not play politics when it comes to our FAITH. Some women abort their babies regardless of the mistakes they committed. They makes excuses and alibis. " I was raped".. It will ruin my whole life if somebody know I got pregnant without a husband. I AM NOT READY TO HAVE CHILDREN. IF A WOMAN IS A TRUE CHRISTIAN, SHE MUST RESPECT THE LIFE OF THE INNOCENT UNBORN BABIES. They have a life that God had given them. These murderous women has no right to MURDER their own baby. LET US BE FIRM, OR WE WILL FALL WITH OUT ANY PLATFORM TO STAND ON.

Pig Bomb: A Growing Number of
        Wild Pigs Has Scientists Worried

We may not need to worry about an invasion of
Muslims…seems like God is going to take care of them…..

This article comes with a disclaimer. As bizarre
as the content sounds, it is not intended to be sarcastic. The topic. The Pig
Bomb. A phrase coined by the Discovery Channel in a recent documentary focusing
on the growing wild pig populations in our nation. Until I watched the
documentary on Discovery Channel, I had no idea that we are facing an epidemic
in our wild pig population. This epidemic in the number of wild pigs populating
our nation is being referred to as the Pig Bomb. In fact, some scientists are
referring to this epidemic as the hidden terror in our nation due to the wild
pigs' ability to destroy farmlands and injure everyone and everything that gets
in their way. Because of the threat, wild pigs have been added to the list of
        invasive animals by the USDA.

I was shocked to find that researchers and
scientists are not taking the sudden growth of wild pigs lightly and are
desperately looking for the answers to the recent Pig Bomb causing the
unhealthy population of wild pigs in our nation.

It is important to remember that wild pigs are
not domesticated farm pigs that we typically picture in our minds. Referred to
also as razorbacks, wild boars, and feral pigs, they stand about 3 1/2 feet
tall and weigh about 300 pounds. They have sharp tusks and a large skull that
can be used for ramming objects. They are extremely strong and use their sharp
        tusks to defend and attack.

Before 1990, there were about 7000 wild pigs
that lived primarily in the eastern and southern parts of the United States.
But now, they have exploded in numbers and have spread into 40 states.

Wild pigs have been getting more and more news
coverage due to the bizarre incidents which have been happening as these wild
pigs encounter people. The wild pigs are extremely aggressive and have been
known to break into homes and attack people. They have caused millions of
dollars in damages to farms across the nation.

In many places, hunters and game wardens are
going out nightly to hunt the wild pigs in a desperate attempt to lower the
population of wild pigs. Unfortunately, it is a lost cause. The wild pigs are
able to reproduce when they reach the age of 5 months and they usually have a
litter of 5 to 10 piglets. Scientists claim that in order to control the
population, 7 out of every 10 wild pigs will need to be eliminated.
Unfortunately, they are reproducing faster than natural predators or hunters
        can keep up with.

What has caused the Pig Bomb? Why are there so
many wild pigs taking over our ecosystems? Scientists are beginning to
speculate that American wild pigs have been breed with Eurasian wild boars
causing a larger aggressive animal that runs faster, fights stronger, and is
harder to keep under control. It is still too early to know what has caused the
Pig Bomb to go off, but scientists are convinced it is a threat that cannot be
        ignored.

They can be trained to find and attack a certain
smell, or just unloaded at the nearest mosque! The Muslims cannot touch a pig
or they will not go to their just reward and miss out on the virgins!!!!!!!!

  • Ed G

Anybody can make a mistake. Not anybody will admit they have made a mistake – he did admit that. If he is willing to take correction that should mean something. God seems tho think it does – (if you read Proverbs). Everyone has decided he is incompetent – (Compared to Biden or Obummer??) – but all the 'conservatives' seem to have overlooked the main point of his attempt to describe a situation – the baby conceived is the victim of the crime – and should not be given the death sentence for something he/she had nothing to do with. If you don't want the baby – why not let someone else have it who is unable to have a child biologically? Punish the rapist – not either of the victims – the other or the child.

    • Evermyrtle

He should be more careful about he says and he should expect a liberal to be ready to pounce on any for any error, so that hey can spread it. but if this had been one of liberal it would not be spread over the country like manure on a field to fertilize it, nobody would have heard about it. They need to clean up their own speech before starting on the conservatives speech

  • Bighoss

"Selfish swine." Those are the words uttered by that sweetheart of the right, Ann Coulter, characterizing Congressman Todd Akin. Her venom (always available in copious quantities) is directed at Mr. Akin on account of his refusal to abandon his quest for a U.S. Senate seat in Missouri. Akin has become a gigantic albatross around the neck of the GOP, owing to his nutterance concerning "legitimate rape" and his bogus contention that a raped woman's body physiologically rebels against conception.

Coulter obviously does not subscribe to Ronald Reagan's "11th Commandment: "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican."

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/E2V2LW7PG7YZD2DCUDUZTNIVJM Raymond Michael

My first reaction was that Akin was crazy. So I did some research. Turns out Akin is a Tea Party member and has a voting record of 80% in New American magazine. Only Ron Paul , I believe, has earned 100% consistently over many years. Yes, Akin is against abortion and some religions feel , like he does, that abortion even for rape and incest is murdering another human being. Rape is such a horrible violation of a women's body that it seems to me making her carry a rapist's baby to term is a horrible injustice, but I can't deny the baby did not ask to be there nor did the mother ask the baby to be their. When there are competing rights to one's own body and to a fetus' right to ;ife eother when the fetus was caused by rape or the life of the mother is at risk if she carries the baby to term, I think the mother's rights trump the baby's right. I did an Internet search to see how many women get pregnant after rape. I found a study that said about 5% do get pregnant. So the trauma of being rape does not seem to affect the ovulation and implantation of the embryo. However quite to my surprise I found that woman can become infertile after rape apparently due to the stress and its effects on the hypothalamus which effects endocrine function. So, Akin was wrong but not apparently totally out to lunch with regard to rape affecting fertility. One doctor believed what Akin did and apparently publicized his belief and perhaps Akin heard him. Misinformation does get passed along very easily.

Don't give a democrat a default win. The democratic candidate does not deserve to be elected. Please be reminded that what a person says is NOT the same thing as their actions, agenda, and desires for the nation. And who among us has said something in a foolish way and then apologize for it…??? But I have yet to hear one democrat do that, have you????? Clintion, Edwards, Weiner to name a few??? Actions should be judged…not a few spoken words.

  • walt

Mr. Akin would have been better off giving the biblical answer to rape and abortion. That rape is a disgusitng and terrible crime commited by someone who hates women. That the rapist should be found and justice served. Then he should have asked this is a child tobe held accountable for the sins of the father? At least if he is going ot be scorned and persecuted it will befor speaking righteous words. In that Godwill turn the persecution around for good if Akin is a Christian.

  • Byron

I dont rally around anybody because of a commect about rape, conservitive or not.

  • thunderbob

I don't disagree with the forgiveness of the mistake, but I'm not in the Media or the Democrat party! no matter how much he tries to get it straight as to what he ment or wanted to say, the Media and the Dems won't let it go! Then you take the people that take can see no farther than their nose and only believe what the Media tells them, and you have an cliff to climb to get back. No matter how you cut the mustard, McCaskill just got a ticket back to D.C. when it should be a ticket to the federal prison. With the Country I grow up in on the verge of destruction, now is the time to look at the Big picture and not self. Akin is not stupid, however, in this case he is and will be represented by the Media as a; stupid and a woman hater! There will be a large group following the media! He really needs suck up his pride to step aside!

  • EstebanCafe

Do we "make a man an offender for a word" (Isa 29:21) when he says the wrong thing–and for which he repents?
Compared to Mssr Ted Kennedy who actually allowed a woman to die after spending the evening with her–as a married man–seems unconscionable. Mary Jo Kopechne could be reached for comment.
Sigh. Mssr Akin may have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. It was a stupid saying and may cost your conservative cause dearly. Good luck.

  • The Watchman

Todd Akin's only mistake was stating the truth, when we all know that the truth will always be offensive to someone. His statement regarding legitimate rape, was pretty much based on scientific fact. There are only a minute amount of pregnancies resulting from legitimate rape, especially brutal and violent rapes. A female wishing to obtain an abortion under the "I was raped" assertion, should also be accompanied by a police report naming the rapist and proof of charges filed. We the people are not that baby's daddy, and we shouldn't be required to contribute our tax money to either abort or take care of the child after it is born. That is the father's responsibility, period. Leaving a "in case of rape" clause in the abortion part of any taxpayer funded health care law, without some type of proof of rape, and a rapist to be held responsible, is nothing less than a loophole for dishonest women, who were in fact engaging in consensual sex, that resulted in an unwanted pregnancy. I'm not saying "all" pregnant women will be dishonest, but to pretend that all women who claim "rape" are being truthful is unrealistic. Todd Akin is being sacrificed for the Republican Party who now, from some reason feels they must pander to the women's rights lobby.

  • Dennis

I took this mans words in a totally different way and agreed with him.Ever try and argue with someone who is for the murdering the unborn? First they will tell you its not a human yet. That at a certain point( pick what time 4 weeks 8 weeks ect) is it only then viable as a baby. Then they are on to what? Well what if its rape!! What if its incest. As if all cases of abortions being performed are cases of rape and incest which is ludicrus.I took Mr.Adkins words in this vain and he was trying to point this out.Less than 1% of abortions performed are because of rape cases.People need to get their heads out of you know what.Murdering the unborn because its a nuiscance, because you were ready for sex but not the consequences is why the majority of abortions are done, period, end of story and is a sad fact of this country. In the end it is child sacrifice and is an abomination to YHWH.

  • Winston

Those in the GOP/RNC demanding Akin to step down from his campaign to seek elected office due to his mistatement about abortion is typical of those I know in the inner circle of the Republican elites who say "we'll never support a born-again Christian for candidacy in the GOP… we want more liberals in the GOP". Akin's problem is that he speaks what most sincere Bible believing Christians understand…and that is we are againgst abortion in all ways as "LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION".

  • whitestone57
