GOP OKs platform barring abortions, gay marriage

Republicans emphatically approved a toughly worded party platform at their national convention Tuesday that would ban all abortions and gay marriages, reshape Medicare into a voucher-like program and cut taxes to energize the economy and create jobs.

The document opens by warning that while the American Dream has long been of equal opportunity for everyone, ‘‘Today that American Dream is at risk.’’ It pledges that the GOP will ‘‘begin anew, with profound changes in the way government operates; the way it budgets, taxes and regulates.’’

Both parties routinely approve platforms at their conventions every four years, meant to encapsulate their principles and goals. Much of their details are customarily ignored when it comes to actually governing.

Even so, a poll by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center found more people interested in the GOP platform than in the upcoming acceptance speeches by presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan. The survey found that 52 percent said they were interested in learning about the Republican platform, compared to 44 percent interested in Romney’s speech and 46 percent interested in Ryan's.

Homosexuals as a whole are athesist and do not accept Jesus. They want to be able to marry so as to destroy the Christian teachings they want to be equal so as to defend their lifestyles. We need to stop calling homosexuals gay because many are not carefree and happy but very guilt riden because they know that sodomy is a nasty and unhealthy practice. Nothing but pain and disease comes from this type of behavior. It is absolutely against nature for there is no procreation by casting a seed where this seed goes. We need more research as to what has happened in the brains of homosexuals and lesbians and find a cure for everyoines sake. Murdering innocent babies because of irresponsbile men and women is wrong. Why should tax payers have to pay for a drunken night out, they can by the booze and drugs they can support the babies that come out of their ignorance. If incest or rape occurs and the women chooses to abort that is between her and GOD and we should not make any law that forbids her this choice as far as that goes neither should we tell people how they have to live by law and as long as tax payers aren't paying for the abortions this too is a choice the women and man make and it is between them and GOD. GOD allows us a choice as to how we live and he allows us a choice to choose him over our lust and greed, He does not want to force us to choose what is right but of our own choice. We will be judged very shortly for our choices and we will live with them for all eternity either with GOD or without him.

    Accepting Jesus "really" is the first step to healing. God does not bring out the magic wand, and poof someone is a saint. It is our duty to mentor, educate and be an example to those who give their hearts to Jesus. Your statement makes it seem that after a person accepts Jesus, and still sins, that they must be a phoney Christian. Remember that Paul said that no matter how hard he tried, he realized that he was still a sinner, and begged God to take that from him. Are you cured from all sin now that you accepted Jesus?       Accepting JESUS CHRIST does not take all of our sinful yearnings. Accepting JESUS means that we accept HIS WORD, as the truth and accepting the fact that we are responsible for how we will live. With HIS help, we will not do that evil thing, again,because we love HIM and want to do HIS will. We must stay in touch with HIM to be able tor resist deep-set evils like this one, if it has gained control over us. But Accepting HIM in the first place is the first step in getting rid of the sin. We are human, we are weak, we are sinners, repentant sinners and not perfect. We will be tempted every day to go back to where we were but with much prayer we can overcome. We need something like alcohol anonymous, so that recovering homosexuals can have some backup and people to talk to. I agree with the "gay marriage" plank . . . but whose taxes are they talking about cutting? Romney at 12 percent and Warren Buffett at 17 percent don't need any more tax breaks. What about those of us who have been stuck paying 35 percent? I don't hear anything about the people who aren't able to put their money into banks in the Cayman Islands and Switzerland!

GREAT platform positions, however the platform is not worth anything if the candidate(s) don't support it. Romney has already stated that he does NOT support the platform position on abortion.
I believe that Christians have become too tied to a political party. We support "our" party no matter what. While I agree that the republican party is better than the democrat party, neither party truly holds and stands for Christian values.
We as Christians must remember that God is sovereign and His person WILL be placed in office.
It is our responsibility to seek out men who will honor God, His Holy Word and obey His commands. I don't believe that either major party has a candidate that does this. Therefore, we must look elsewhere for OUR candidate.
If we cannot find any candidate who truly honors God, His Holy Word and obeys His commands, then we must either write in the name of someone who does (our pastor, for example) or not vote.
We must learn to obey God and trust Him. His will WILL be done!

or say anything about repentance which must come first before forgiveness and

And why is this? It’s because when one
feels that they are above even God Himself and His Laws, repentance is not

They all say that God’s Laws are supreme,
yet they support a man Ron Paul who has made a conscious effort as well as a
verbal statement against God’s Laws and calls it good. And now his son Rand has dug the knife even deeper into our backs and
scoffed at the God he claims he knows in his support of this Mormon who also
supports Gays in the Military as well as same sex marriages.

The God I worship and who is King says

I am voting for Ron Paul. No, he is not perfect, but, at least check, none of them are. I am in a traditional marriage and that is what I support but I try not to play "judge and jury" (see Matthew 7:1 – it's God's job to judge, not ours). As for the "abortion" thing: No, I am not some abortion fanatic, but realize that they will still happen even if Roe vs. Wade gets overturned. Furthermore, under the current law, women give birth to children everyday because they choose to (funny how the media doesn't cover that side of the story). Few, if any, would like to have the Federal Government tell them what they can and cannot do – we already have plenty of laws (more than enough, in my opinion.)
