Iranian pastor released, acquitted of apostasy

An Iranian pastor sentenced to death for apostasy has been acquitted and released, according to Christian Solidarity Worldwide.

CSW, which supports the persecuted church, has been informed that Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani has been freed from prison and is now at home with his family.

Pastor Nadarkhani made an appearance in court today during which the apostasy charges against him were dropped.

However, he was found guilty of evangelising Muslims and sentenced to three years in prison.

He was released immediately because he had already served this time in prison, after being held behind bars since the apostasy charges were first levelled against him in 2009.

Too bad we can't throw Ahmadenijhad and Khameini in Gitmo for a decade or so for fraud against the world. I hope this pastor and his congregation have the brains to abandon rotting Iran and the means to get to somewhere like Israel where they get a modicum of respect!

Sadly, I don't believe he'll be free for long since there is no reason to believe that he will stop evangelizing the lost in Iran. Perhaps he and his family will leave Iran, but it doesn't appear likely.

A lot of preachers in this country should look on this pastor's dedication to the Lord and how he endured and continued to preach the gospel. Not like Al, Jesse, and all the rest who are in it for the money.
