France Ups Embassy Security After Prophet Cartoons

France stepped up security at some of its embassies on Wednesday after a satirical Parisian weekly published crude caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed. The prime minister said he would block a demonstration by people angry over a movie insulting to Islam as the country plunged into a fierce debate about free speech.

The government defended the right of magazine Charlie Hebdo to publish the cartoons, which played off of the U.S.-produced film The Innocence of Muslims, and riot police took up positions outside the offices of the magazine, which was firebombed last year after it released an edition that mocked radical Islam.

The amateurish movie, which portrays the prophet as a fraud, a womanizer and a child molester, has set off violence in seven countries that has killed at least 28 people, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya.

Video Creates Chaos in the Middle East? Nonsense!

The American left are so cowed by Islamic militants that
they accept without question that an
anti-Islamic video precipitated the chaos in the Middle East (ME) and
elsewhere. It is the same mentality that allowed Maj. Nidal Hasan the freedom
to murder unarmed fellow soldiers at Ft. Hood in Texas. Our Secretary of State
spreads the lie; Candy Crowley spreads the lie. It is the consistent theme of
the Liberal Intellectual Establishment (LIE) that spreads the lie.

Islamic militants have spread the lie as well and the LIE
has taken the bait – hook, line and sinker. Of course, the real cause of ME
chaos was the killing of Osama bin Laden and the ongoing, sky-dwelling,
drone-seeking deaths of militants throughout that war-torn region. I say this because
these violent attacks on US and other western facilities were, according to some
authorities, planned in advance; planned
for September 11; planned against insufficiently fortified Embassies and
Consulates who apparently were not
allowed to fight back; planned in the face of new, untested Islamic
regimes. Part of the plan was to cite an obscure video that no had seen as the
catalyst for their preplanned operation. They knew that the “useful idiots” in
the US and elsewhere would jump on the bandwagon to portray this as a right
wing ideologue’s vicious attack on their prophet. The left was happy to oblige;
much better to blame a so-called Christian radical than to blame President
Obama for killing bin Laden and a multitude of his henchmen. It doesn’t concern
the left that these same militants are claiming that there are 1.5 billion more
bin Laden’s for the West to confront.

Not that it matters, but the jury is still out on the
falsely accused video. If the creator of said video was, indeed, a Coptic
Christian, he has an excusable justification for his diatribe. It is open
season on the minority Coptic Christians and others in the ME. They are being
systematically eliminated from the ever growing Islamic ME and North Africa.
But everyone, including the LIE, knows
the true cause of ME chaos – it is militant Islam. The left will simply deny
it.

And, I’ve yet to hear the LIE come to the free speech
defense of the video maker. It wasn’t that long ago when a mixed chorus of left
and right came to the defense of Salman Rushdie for his much-maligned Satanic Verses which also, presumably,
maligned the Muslim prophet. I can hear
the echoes of the Voltaire admonition even now:
I may not agree with what you say
but I will defend to the death your right to say it. Salman Rushdie was
forced into hiding and security. Others did not fare as well. Japanese, Italian,
Norwegian and Turkish publishers and translators were injured or killed as a
result of their – transgression? The
silence from the left is deafening.

Keep in mind that this is only a film that is being touted as the cause of mayhem in the world. It
has killed no one. The real killing is being conducted by incompatible Eastern
and Western philosophies and Obama is leading the West. But don’t tell that to
the Liberal Intellectual Establishment (LIE). They might not understand. Liberalism will be the death
of free speech and Israel one of these days.

I wait with bated breath to see the much esteemed liberal socialism of the French handle the "oil on the fire." I suspect we will see some conservative emerge from them, after all.
