Chick-fil-A makes another statement on controversy

Chick-fil-A is once again in the public relations fryer.

The controversy flared up this week when a Chicago politician said the company was no longer giving to groups that oppose same-sex marriage, angering Christian conservatives who supported Chick-fil-A this summer when its president reaffirmed his opposition to gay marriage. Civil rights groups hailed the turnabout, yet the company never confirmed it and instead released two public statements, neither of which made Chick-fil-A's position any clearer.

The events suggest the Southern franchise may be trying to steer clear of hot-button social issues while it expands in other, less conservative regions of the country. In its statement Thursday, the Georgia-based company said its corporate giving had for many months been mischaracterized.

"Part of our corporate commitment is to be responsible stewards of all that God has entrusted to us," the statement said. "Chick-fil-A's giving heritage is focused on programs that educate youth, strengthen families and enrich marriages, and support communities. We will continue to focus our giving in those areas. Our intent is not to support political or social agendas."

Don't give in one inch to the anti-CHRIST bunch of liberals. If you give an inch now, it won't be long until they demand you give in another inch and………………………As I said before buy plots of land on beyond Chicago, on all four sides and build a Chic-fil-A, and get as much business as you can handle.

i think this answer pretty much sums it all up in a nutshell.

I am troubled by the comments on the Chicago incident…..either the CEO believes what he believes, or he doesn't……and actions are louder than words……I will be watching…..I WANT to support those with strong Christian beliefs but they have to back their belief up with their actions…….we cannot be intimidated by the likes of the Chicago Obama machine……somebody has to stand up to them……if not now, when? If not us, who?

Very well stated, Brenda. Chick-fil-A, stand by your beliefs. Don't muddy the waters of truth. You know that you have millions of Christians to back you up. If you give an inch, you will not only lose our respect, but that of God. The Lord tells us to not set on the fence. A Luke-warm Christian will be spewed out of His mouth.

        Amen and amen!!!

When we walk into the devil's territory we are asking for trouble. Chick-fil-A does not need to go to Chicago; there are many other places where people want them.
Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” 2 Cor 6:17
Their company could be a great witness there; however, it could also have to compromise their beliefs when hiring people contrary to their beliefs. The CFA I go to happens to have all Christians working there. People in the Chicago area my force them to hire people who will be a detriment to what CFA wants in an employee.

When this place ceases serving plastic 'chicken' and starts serving food, I might look again. Until then they are on the same boycott list as MacDonalds, JackInTheBox, Wimpy Bar (Bugerking), Hardys, and other plastic burger greasy spoon chains. The infestation of homophobes in their management is just another negative against this sleazebag chain.

I support Chick-fil-a's right to donate to ANY cause it chooses, INCLUDING anti gay marriage groups. I also support Ben & Jerry's right to donate to pro gay marriage causes and groups. Just who in the hell are "we" to tell either of them where they can spend THEIR money? Butt out people.

    • Evermyrtle

I realize that they have a right to donate to any organization that they please and I would not interfere if it were donating to anti-GOD, against GOD'S plan for HIS people but I WOULD NOT SUPPORT IT, NEVER!!.

      • mallen11

Yes, and we no longer buy Ben & Jerry's for that reason; however, I also heard the owners sold B&J's.

      • fort9erdon

And that is exactly my point. I would never give to any pro homo organizations, but if someone else does, that is their money, and is between them and their God.

Not to worry, when sharia law comes into being in the states, gay rights will end, heads will roll, and if they kill the Christians we will join Jesus in Heaven and return with Him to squash the real infidels.

The govt. has no business restricting the building of a certain enterprise based on what charities, funds, etc. it supports. Let them find a real bonafida reason to issue restrictions such as encouraging drugs, drunkeness, porn, molestation etc. being supported by said business.

  • aceituna

In other words let the govt. go about the real bunsiness we put them there for in the first place!

The hypocrisy is ever present. As Starbucks, Home Depot, JC Penny, and some other corporations made it a big point that these corporations support gay marriage and the redefinition of marriage, Chick-fil-A becomes the target of the liberal media, Hollywood, and the radical gay terrorists for the owner's statement that he believes marriage should be between one man and one woman. These are the times in which we live. I think Chick-fil-A is caving in to the pressure. They could have merely stated that as free Americans they have a constitutional right to support any political and social cause they wish, and that no apology is needed. But they didn't do that, sadly enough. If Christians do not stand for their rights and convictions in these days of social chaos, our republic will become a place where only progressives have a right to express their views, and America I surely do not want any part of.

  • don

i supported them when they were under attack but this is a slap in the face to give in to these people. i wont eat there again, i did not like your food in the first place

Chick-fil-A just needs to stand firm on their Christian standards. If they try to compromise with the world they will lose. God doesn't bless those who compromise with the world.
