Catholic Bishops issue response to Biden claims

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) issued the following statement, October 12. Full text follows:

Last night, the following statement was made during the Vice Presidential debate regarding the decision of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to force virtually all employers to include sterilization and contraception, including drugs that may cause abortion, in the health insurance coverage they provide their employees:

"With regard to the assault on the Catholic Church, let me make it absolutely clear. No religious institution—Catholic or otherwise, including Catholic social services, Georgetown hospital, Mercy hospital, any hospital—none has to either refer contraception, none has to pay for contraception, none has to be a vehicle to get contraception in any insurance policy they provide. That is a fact. That is a fact."

This is not a fact. The HHS mandate contains a narrow, four-part exemption for certain "religious employers." That exemption was made final in February and does not extend to "Catholic social services, Georgetown hospital, Mercy hospital, any hospital," or any other religious charity that offers its services to all, regardless of the faith of those served.

        Crochet is difficult. My grandfather took up crochet after a stroke to get his dexterity back, he got quite good at it, and when I was a sailor I did a lot of decorative "Marlin Spike" which is really the same as crochet.

      The bishops do worship the Antichrist, after all, so it's a reasonable question for any Christian to ask. Most of the folks here were absolutely positive that the Bible proved that Catholics worshiped the Devil right up until it became obvious that God's Own Party would nominate one for Vice President.
      The one clear sign of the Antichrist's identity is that everyone will think he speaks for God. So Obama's out, but the Pope and Romney are still in the running for the title.

    Michael, I am sorry that you have left our beloved Church. The tenets have been and are the same throughout the ages. People are people and we are sinners by nature; you cannot blame the Church for the sinners. It is Her mission to bring us to Christ. As for excommunication: only the sinner can excommunicate himself/herself. The Church can refuse to give the sinner Holy Eucharist or any other sacraments until the penitent requests confession and promises not to commit the mortal sin involved ever again and become faithful to the teachings of the Church. I hope that helps you understand that Biden, Pelosi, Napolitano, Sebellius and Kennedy are/were Catholics in name only (CINO just like RINO) – not true Catholics. They know they did not come out strongly enough in the last presidential election and are suffering the consequences now including providing procedures contrary to our beliefs: birth control, abortion, abortifacients, etc. Even the conscience clause they were promised by OWEbama has disappeared. Even the Catholic church needs to do that, for they have substituted and promoted their own traditions and their "papacy" above the Bible; which by doing that they place themselves as equal or better than Jesus the Lord of all! Does anyone see many of the Obama and Biden statements as brazen lies other then conservatives? Is it possible that they just do not care we see and know they are telling things that are not even remotely true? If a lie is told on a national program that has perhaps forty million viewers does the one telling the falsehood not think it will get checked out and recognized as a lie? Is this what happens within our political system when the media goes to sleep and refuses to draw attention to the false statements and label them as such? Is the media becoming as corrupt as the liberal progressives? One final question, is the Obama campaign intentionally trying to literally destroy the Democratic party and if so, why.
