And God Spoke to Abraham (Lincoln)

In early October 1862, Abraham Lincoln received a letter from God.

“I am your Heavenly Father and the God of all Nations,” it began. God had particular explanations and instructions for the president, whose entire term of office had been defined by war. “I am the cause for the disruption between the North and the South,” he continued, and the point was to destroy the “horrible state of affairs” that man’s “selfish nature” had brought. “I am not partial and have no respect of persons.” Coming just weeks after the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, the letter made it clear that God wanted to destroy slavery. For further instructions, God told Lincoln to gather six of his best men and meet in person “my instrument the Messenger of Peace the Christ of this day.”

Conveniently, the “Christ of this day” was not only staying in Washington, but lived just a few miles from the White House, at 476 Pennsylvania Avenue. At the meeting and through the medium, God would explain “what to do that will speedily terminate this Devilish war.”

  what about the witch of Endor in I Samuel. the witch of Endor was a medium, and God allowed her to conger up Samuel from the dead at King Saul request. i guess you have never read that story in the Bible for does not violates your fundamentalism.

      satan's native tongue is lies, so how could he correctly prophecy King Saul's death that next day in battle. the witch was more surprised in the story than King Saul when Samuel appeared. just read the story and see that it was God who used the witch of Endor this time. God will use anything to accomplish his purposes even the satan himself.

if i had to guess almost no one actually went on a read the article for if they did they would see that Abraham Lincoln did not buy what these "prophets and mediums" were saying. it was not until the end of the civil war that lincoln even saw that God was at work through the situation.

The War between the States was not fought over slavery, as is so often taught by Yankees. The cause of secession was economic and the war was instigated by Lincoln. Those are just a few of the books that give a fair perspective of the War. Some facts you might want to consider, Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederacy adopted a 12 year old boy who lived with him in the VA. white house, he was black. Alexander Stephens, the Vice President of the Confederacy was against slavery. Robert E. Lee did not own slaves during the war or after, U.S. Grant continued to own slaves even after the war ended. Stonewall Jackson, started a Sunday school for slave children and his most trusted aid was a black slave. The history of this war has been distorted beyond belief, because history is written by the victors. Learn to read and stop being propagandized.

  the real cause of the Civil War was basically a rivalry between the North and the South. the evidence is seen in what happened with reconstruction. after Lincoln was assassinated Andrew Johnson became a lame-duck president by the time he took the oath of office.
