The BBC has been accused of neglecting Christianity in its coverage by focussing too heavily on pagan traditions. Christian leaders believe that the beeb’s 24-hour news channel “down-played Christianity and up-played paganism” over Halloween, by showing extensive coverage of Samhain, a festival celebrating the turning of the year from light to dark.
Mike Judge, spokesman for the Christian Institute, called this “symptomatic of a much bigger problem across the BBC”. “It does create an atmosphere where it’s OK to marginalise Christians,” he said.
