California wants to teach its kids gay history.
Lawmakers there approved a bill Tuesday that would make the state the first to require textbooks and history classes to include the contribution of gays, lesbians and transgendered Americans.
The legislation, which was passed on a party-line vote, will now head to Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown, who has not said whether he would sign it.
The measure would also ban material that reflects adversely on gays.
